I wouldn't jump to political corruption every time I disagree with something. The State put out a bid notice. Green Apple won. Tesla didn't because, in part, their chargers don't work for everyone. NACS can work for everyone. Tesla Superchargers don't. Until that gets fixed, the government (for ALL the people) won't accept Tesla's bids.

Anyway, If I were a State (and think about if you were) and I was trying to maximize my budget, I would definitely incorporate a charging solution that netted money for the State.
Tesla wasn't insisting on making the chargers NACS only, they were all going to be Magic Dock stalls - no adapters needed for anyone (except Leaf owners on ChaDemo I suppose).

I get the Bid Notice thing and they are following procedure there. In Considering bids it just not price, its follow up service, company reliability, and so. Also would like to point out Tesla Superchargers do Support CCS and NACS its called Magic Dock. NACS is the standard that Tesla set for EVs and everyone has followed or will be this year. So they didn't have to support CSS Plugs but they do. Also Elon said if that was a issue in any of these chargers Tesla would of upgraded them (I know the very first Chargers out were NACS only, but they have been updating them.) So I thinks it irresponsible to penalize your customers (US) just so you can fill your pockets more, Considering they already charge a Toll and that is constantly going up, why soak the public on get your car charged too. I agree with who ever posted "Just another reason to not visit New Jersey :sneaky:) I honestly pity the people who have to live there, I would be up in arms for sure.

Apparently, Tesla didn't offer them the cut they wanted, so they've been kicked out. AppleGreen is apparently charging users 59c/kWh, up in Connecticut, about 50% more than Tesla had been charging. Based upon that, you can imagine what they were asking Tesla for.
Good. Now economics will be the driving factor of how much of a failure this foreign company will bring to the people of NJ.

Why TF are we even allowing foreign companies to do this on our interstates? And at a HIGHER cost to consumer. It should be painfully obvious by now that we don't have a republic anymore; we have greedy, evil overlords.

The only one who suffers are us people in NJ, the only one who benefits is the state of NJ. I can say at least in my area - there are a LOOOT of teslas and I'm sure other owners like myself would prefer to use their network.
Everyone who travels on the Jersey turnpike will suffer. That is a major route from New England to the south, now everyone will have to get off the highway to charge. It is the most ridiculous ruling and action a government could take as far as EV's are concerned

You're not wrong, but for the State to "maximize their budget" this way, they need to extract as much money as possible from the users.

The Indiana Toll Road, was Leased to a Danish Company several years ago to run, and our Governor was touting what a great deal it was for Indiana. That company did nothing but up the rates, do no maintenance and ended up getting kicked out and left our state in a mess we still pay for today. So yeah, its not a new story to me.

NJ and corruption... perfect together. Those involved will get their nice kickback, while 5 years from now, it will be either ripped out and not replaced or abandoned because this company goes bankrupt and no one maintains it.

Because in many countries bribes are perfectly legal. So the people who OK these deals get an ATM card in the mail from an overseas bank or free European vacations, while we get stuck with the higher costs.

and they already do that by charging to drive on the NJTP. And the gas tax.
Welcome to NJ now pay up.

Actually there is a reason for this. Apparently, archeologist have just completed several sites in New Jersey only to discover that there is no intelligent life. Nor has there ever been any there. LOL

Read the whole thread. Didn’t see this part. Applegreen is running the entire rest stop of which the EV chargers are a tiny portion. They don’t want competition and their customers coming into their managed site. Watch the OOS video if you want the longer detailed explanation. They will lose a decent amount of Tesla business but they will get to charge more to the customers that choose their chargers. They also don’t manufacture chargers but use a bunch of different 3rd party chargers at their locations. I live in NJ and don’t really care as I almost never need to charge in NJ as my charging is done at home.
FWIW…

Absolutely, they don't want to let them even co-exist because they know majority of EV's are Tesla and no one would use their chargers unless by force. It'll bite them in the ass because people will get off to go to a Tesla charger and it'll drive business away from their rest stops because people will already be off the turnpike - might as well get some food while were off and not pay $32 for a hamburger and drink.
