Thanks for this. I made a service request and sent the pic of the new charger part number, asking to have it installed. They accepted it, but they also added a task to install my beast's light bar - which I don't yet want. (I'm hoping there's a revised version in the pipeline that doesn't require gluing it to the windshield). Anyway, I updated the service request and said I didn't want the light bar installed, so we'll see if they still want me to come in.
I have a request from anyone scheduled to get this and access to an IR thermometer. Could you take a before and after installation temperature measurement on the charge pad (after charging your phone for a while). Would be interesting to get real data on how much better this is.

Looks like there is finally a solution being offered by Tesla to fix the phone overheating issue for the center console chargers:

I just scheduled a repair with my local SC!

Yes!
I don't understand why Tesla does things this way. Why don't they inform you about a fix for a problem that exists with your Cybertruck? Why do they wait until you ask for help? If you don't say anything, they won't fix it. And that's not right, especially since they do not even make an effort to inform the customer about anything. Had I never stumbled on this post, I would not have known that they had a fix for this problem. Thank you for posting. How can we get Tesla to care more for their customers?

Good thing Apple calls you up and says, "I understand our phones are not compatible charging on a Cybertruck. Do you want a new phone? :ROFLMAO:

Does anyone remember when iPhones were having reception issues? Yeah, Apple actually told their customers they were holding their phones wrong!

The original one didn’t just overheat, it flat out sucked at charging, too. The last thing I’d consider is simply installing a heat sink onto the original.

I love my T-Sportline charger as it is an beautiful OEM-style installation, charges my iPhone beautifully, & it holds it up high in a location that I can scan and occasionally use briefly on FSD without getting a strike.

Trying to get mine scheduled with my SC (unfortunately I am 2 hours away from the closest) and they won't set it up as a mobile appointment. Giving me a thousand excuses - really frustrating. My son had a similar experience and they FINALLY relented. I originally got my HomeLink installed in my Model Y at home . . . The SA on my text thread just ended up setting up an appointment July 10th at the SC . . . without even asking if that was ok. Ugh.

I have mobile service coming out this Thursday to replace my original module with the new one (FS AWD May '24), but for the last 6 months or so I've been using this charger setup. It's a Jowua MagSafe charger head fitted onto a metal arm from another mount (I liked the look of it). The Jowua charger is one of the few I found that had the USB-C cable coming straight out the back of the MagSafe disc instead of from the bottom. They both use the same ball connector, simple swap.

I ran the USB-C cable to one of the ports in the back seat, it's completely invisible. The big benefit is that I can see my entire phone screen, it bothers the heck out of me that the bottom is significantly cut off when in the native CT charging slot.

I also use Apple Music on my iPhone and bluetooth it to the CT for music for two reasons:
  1. It sounds WAY better, try it. I use lossless audio on my iPhone, and even thought it's not technically lossless once it gets transmitted over bluetooth, it's noticeably punchier and better sounding than the built-in Apple Music app.
  2. I can have the lyrics show while the music is playing.
The whole thing looks really clean and the charging from Jowua is excellent. The red sticker is a Cyberdyne logo, because why not?

Added this to my SC visit in a couple of weeks. Recent history with the Fort Worth SC suggests they'll just ignore it or claim it's not a required fix, so we'll see....

More than likely. I've had SC visits based on a few items I had identified, and they literally ignored all of them and did general fixes and recalls instead.

I added this to my upcoming service and they tried to argue it was normal to overheat. Then I have the part number of the new one and they relented to at least look into it. Hopefully it does solve the problem because both me and my wife have the same problem on the original charger.

I’ll just wait until the service centers are more familiar with it. I hate going back and forth on things trying to explain to them. It’s always a crap shoot depending on who you talk to.

Tesla Los Angeles pushed back hard on doing a mobile service.

Ridiculous that you have to jump through hoops with them to get things done. I sent them the part number and told them my phone overheating to the point where it’s no longer operational is not “normal”

The one literally available directly on the Tesla Parts website?

https://epc.tesla.com/en-US/catalog...d959-4368-b28f-9e785bb641b0?part=1877045-00-C

Did you show them the part is literally listed there, on the Tesla OEM parts page, and it is even listed there as rev 5? Some SC ‘s are lazy and think it’s easier to just to say no. You apparently need to educate them on this one. I’d escalate until you find a person that cares. Give them the link (literally to their own part number, on their site), and even give them the original X link that clearly shows the difference between the two revisions.

I definitely would not take no for an answer from them.
