I finally received an invite from the Tesla service center to schedule my lightbar installation, (Foundation Beast delivered June 2024), and from what I’m understanding they can’t legally connect the lightbar and it’s not a simple job, see below.

I stopped taking expensive vehicles off-road when I got into ATVs and this lightbar will not actually function in any other mode, but off-road, from what I’m finding. In other words; I will never turn it on!

Does anybody here with a Cyberbeast foundation series have any experience with the lightbar that they can share and any experience about rejecting it? I’m hoping I get a credit of sorts. Thanks

I took delivery of my beast in July 2024 and had my lightbar installed in January 2025. “If” the dealership installs the lightbar correctly based off of the latest service procedure the requirement from your end is simple. It requires you to remove a bolt, pop up one panel, connect a wiring harness plug and tighten everything back up. Took me 5 mins in the dealership parking lot. From a difficulty standpoint I wouldn’t let this deter you from getting the lightbar installed.

If you are never going to use it that is a different consideration to mull over. Happy to help if you have other questions.

I know people are wanting to buy them so if you sell it charge a premium.

I rarely drive at night especially on a trail where I can legally use it. At night on deep backroads you gotta be quick to turn it off so you do t blind on coming traffic, kinda a hassle especially when the auto dim high beams are very comparable.

From what everyone’s saying you can turn the lightbar on during normal driving if you want to blind people. It does not have to be an off road mode.
? I guess the Internet has actually become unreliable ?‍♂

I certainly would not use the light bar to be an aggressive driver, and I think that is an actual legal violation in my state

Thanks for the detailed reply. This will ultimately affect my decision to go through with it or not. If I do go through with the lightbar installation, you will be partially responsible!

They installed mine completely. Only thing I was required to do was remove the black tape from the light itself

I've done this exactly once when someone pulled out in front of me on a 55 mph rural road and proceeded to LITERALLY REVERSE THEIR CAR to take a turn they missed.

it’s definitely a legal violation in every state lmao
Do you find yourself laughing your ass off over every little insignificant thing in life? If so, it is a known condition and there is medication for it. ?

I have the FS CB, lightbar was installed a few weeks ago.
My SC installed everything except for the 3 wires to connect the light bar to the top wiring. They connected the plug that you need the 10mm socket for me so that saved me a step.
Took about 5 minutes to connect the 3 wires.
As soon as it was connected the truck saw the lightbar and the new screen settings came up.
I can confirm you can turn on the lightbar in normal operations.

As other said, the finish install (plug in) is very easy. I do use the lights on unknown dirt or fire roads I find myself on, though not often.

the front projecting lights are decent, the ditch lights … meh. It was the ditch lights I wanted most (of course). The lights are operated from the “outlets” menu which you will have to scroll down to get to - very very annoying if you need to get to them fast on a bumpy dirt road.

I haven’t had the chance to operate them in fog or rain, hope they do better than the stupid front day light bar which is blinding in the fog.

I would never have considered these lights for under 1k let alone for the price they are at in Tesla store.

if you can’t get a cash bar (unlikely) I would try sell them to someone who just must have these lights.

It’s kind of insane how all over the place Tesla is with this because this was supposed to have been the old way, abandoned way back in October of last year! And the new way was supposed to be to attach it up top and have people connect it behind the B pillar which has been challenging for some people to do. ??‍♂

As far as OP‘s question though to try and trade it for something else such as a credit seems highly improbable. The OEM lightbar is a
limited edition accoutrement that is part of a FS/CB purchase. It’s not available on other vehicles and presumably they made enough for each one of those trucks. So that’s what you bought hopefully we’ll know soon enough if you can attach it to a non-FS AWD because somebody went and bought one and is going to try - or so we are told.

If you're in the great So. California area we will do the lightbar wiring as a service, if you are not comfortable DIY.
The light can be turned on anytime and is dimmable, a cool feature.

DM me for details, we hooked up many Tesla light bars.

I just had mine installed last week. My SC (Virginia) just didn't make the connection on the passenger door pillar. With the reported inconsistency of SC's "completion of work", I had the tech come out to walk me through what was left. Took me 4-6 minutes and only required a plastic pry tool and 10mm socket/wrench.

This vid explains it well, assuming this is the connection your SC left for you.
