From NY Post article:
".... as caused by the driver speeding while drunk and on cocaine, according to a new report on the investigation. "

"The driver, Dixon, had a BAC of 0.195% — more than twice the legal limit — when the Tesla truck drove off the road, smashed into a retaining wall and burst into flames, the investigation confirmed."

" The three died from asphyxia due to smoke inhalation in the car — and burns were also a “significant” factor in their deaths, which were ruled accidental, according to the autopsy report. "

"Piedmont Fire Chief Dave Brannigan said the day after the crash that the speed in extinguishing was indicative that the Cybertruck’s large lithium-ion battery had not caught fire, describing the incident as “more along the lines of a typical car fire.”"

So the Fire Chief said the fire was not caused by main battery. What would have caused the fire if not the main battery?

Given the nature of the accident, the driver impairment is entirely unsurprising.

There may not be gasoline in an EV, but there are other flammable liquids. I suspect it was the coolant.

HTF-LS is 50/50 water/glycol. Not flammable.

Maybe multiple liquor bottles inside the cabin bursted into flames from the crash? Other flammable drug paraphernalia stuff, perhaps?

Regardless of how it happen, that was someone's mom, daughter, aunt etc. Loss of life shouldn't be taken so lightly, I guess that's just me being a veteran.
True but being a you guy I hope it his last word were not watch this. You have to have respect for the cybertruck speed. It doesn't feel as fast as it is going.

A dropped cigarette, possibly? Fireworks?

Severed wires is a main cause. After that there's lots of flammable stuff to go up from a spark. Plastics, break fluids, etc.

Collisions cause a huge transfer of energy. Bend a paper clip and feel the broken ends.

The loss of life is very tragic. At the same time a lessons again that alcohol and drugs don’t mix with traffic.

One question I have is who was the owner of the Cybertruck and let him, Dixon, drive it after they came back from a party? Or maybe he just took it from his home, parents didn’t see him?

I won't comment on the flammability, but will comment on the so-called friends that were following them in another vehicle. If you know your friend is that impaired (they were at the party together) you don't let them get near any vehicle. Period.

This was not about respecting or not respecting the Cybertruck speed. Impaired driving was responsible for this tragedy.
