Fundamental problem with S and X is they were developed before Tesla's modern cost-savings techniques. No castings. No 4680. The assembly lines are ancient low-volume setups in the old Toyota factory. To make them viable or increase volume they basically need all-new cars and new assembly...
Elon said years ago they were only making them for nostalgia and they were basically a non-factor for their bottom line. Still, I'm sad to see them go. Beautiful unique cars.
Don't know about the order page you see, but they killed them a while back and the wrong side of the road version has been dead since '23. China sales ended with tariffs except for a select few units they imported.

Also, you should probably change the title of the thread to something less sensational and far more accurate. The supply chain didn't collapse, so "Tesla Suppliers' exclusive contract to supply cathodes ends, with very little revenue" would be more appropriate.
The level of reporting is terrifyingly bad, both from Elektrek and others. Good ole Elektrek of course adds its usual Elon gloom in their "take" section because they hate him so much, but the spin in all of the outlets reporting this is nearly as bad. "Declining demand", "4680 not working...
Maybe you can just draw up a little plan for them and have in done in half that time! Since, of course, you clearly have an understanding of it and it's not that complicated.
You're making assumptions that something should be able to be done in a given timeframe without any knowledge about what is involved in completing the task. I don't have a full understanding of the job, but I know enough to know it's very complex.
I also know that if anyone can make this...
The hardware is known, but none of it was designed with this function in mind. Powerwall wasn't designed to have an additional vehicle battery sometimes supply power to its system, and Powershare was fairly straight forward in terms of having power flow from the battery to a demand.
There is...
The planning for this vehicle began in a different political climate when EV mandates were in place. Automakers had no choice. With those gone, this will be released and probably fall flat.
I actually think it's a neat vehicle but the range is terrible, especially considering the 100 kwh...
This is fan fiction.
However, on my wife's old Model 3 the battery died. They didn't have any stock of the same battery, so they said, would you mind if we use the newer LFP batter? We were like Frig Yeah! I didn't realize swapping to newer and different tech was so easy. The car gained...
