I’m mostly pretty happy with the Tesla software experience, even maps and Spotify (the CarPlay version is actually worse!). But the Tesla phone integration is the worst I’ve ever seen in any car with BT, especially for music. I own most of the music I listen to, and it’s on my phone. Not being able to properly play that without faffing around with my phone is truly horrible.

So this is good news if true and done well. The other alternative would be to have a good BT media app :)

Will your CT having Apple CarPlay directly built in without having to purchase any additional hardware be beneficial for you and the family?

While I don't use Apple phones, I haven't missed Android Auto. I mean at first honestly yes I was like oh my God I don't have Android auto, but after realizing that the Tesla system integrates and works very nicely I realized I didn't need it. Your music, ebooks, text, phone calls are handled very well through Tesla directly.

Yes! Finally I can dump my extra screen! I only use it for Waze. Tesla nav isn’t as smart as the crowd data with Waze. Especially for speed traps!
I was just thinking the same, damn ordered the extra screen (showing up this weekend)....now I probably wouldn't need it although still good as a reference for speed, etc...and probably would not nag FSD.

what are your thoughts on the screen, would you have gone without it if you went back? (I ordered the Hannshow one)

I have been using this for a long time. Cheap $30 screen from Amazon.

I want this for one huge reason. Garage door! I have HomeKit garage doors and always have to ask Siri to open the door, she is sometimes slow, and pauses my music and sometimes doesn’t get it. But my CarPlay vehicles have my garage door button show up on the dashboard when I get close to home. This solves the homelink issue for me. Also, music, Waze, cleaner interface, off road gps app, messaging, and a few other reasons.

My premium connectivity just ended. I’ve been using Bluetooth audio and I think the sound quality is slightly degraded. I believe CarPlay audio would be better similar to native apps. Remote Sentry view is really the only reason I want premium. About damn time Tesla!

have it in my Lightning and only use it for Apple Maps because Ford navigation sucks and sends me down dead end roads or roads with locked gats that will not get me to my destination even with open gates. and ford added lightning support to Apple Maps so it adds charging stops. before the add-on I used ABRP.

most likely would never use it in a Tesla. I have mp3's on phone so I use Music thru bluetooth when we have no signal.

Whenever I rent a car, CarPlay is a must-have. Maybe this can be attractive to non-Tesla folks looking to rent a Tesla (if that's even a possibility anymore).

I'm interested in seeing how they'll integrate CarPlay with the standard UI which is easily the best in the industry.

My question is...will it be wired or wireless CarPlay? I think only the glovebox USB port carries data. Wireless could be possible, but the truck would need to first disconnect from home WiFi. This assumes no extra hardware will need to be retrofitted.

It's pretty hard to take anything the SlashGear article says seriously when they claim, "Nowadays, having Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is pretty much a necessity in any new car sale." while the best-selling car in the world, the Tesla Model Y, has never had either. How did it become the best-selling car if having those things is "pretty much a necessity" to sell a new car?

Who are you going to believe, SlashGear or your lying eyes? It sounds like they are being the mouthpiece for the Apple or Android car systems.

The stereo in the Cybertruck is so good I've been using Tidal for 95% of my music because Tidal offers high-bitrate lossless audio and it sounds a lot better on the Cybertruck. The difference was significant even on my Model 3's audio system, but on the Cybertruck it's even more noticeable due to it's great dimension and presence. It's important enough to me that I'm willing to do the necessary download of hi-res tracks to internal memory (Tidal has over 110 million lossless, hi-res tracks available). Tesla vehicles support playback of high-resolution audio up to 24-bit depth and 192 kHz sample rate via USB for formats like FLAC and WAV. Apple CarPlay can't do that wirelessly but I think plugging in your phone containing lossless tracks would work if Tesla enables CarPlay and that capability.

I'm totally happy with Tesla's built-in infotainment system and probably wouldn't use Car Play or Android Auto, even if Tesla incorporated it.

Wouldn't it use Bluetooth?
