Just picked up my Cybertruck today. The advisor specifically mentioned the cybertrucks develop orange rust marks in the rain and that required the vehicle to be buffed out. I know I heard the story of never take out your Delorean in the rain but I just never read anything about rust and Cybertrucks. All in all smooth delivery. The first 10 min of driving, the vehicle was pulling hard to the right…I turned around and went back to the service center thinking there was an issue. They scheduled me to a different service center near where I live but after putting on some more miles the pull went away.

Congrats on your truck and thanks for sharing your experience. I wonder if other owners have seen any orange/ rust spots developing after rain? Makes the case for wrapping ASAP.

lol no

Does your kitchen sink get wet? Or your pots and pans? Flatware?

If it "rusts", it's not stainless steel.

A lot of different kinds of stainless steel it would feature that Musk would use the kind that rusts. But that is the last thing to worry about is the aluminum casting all under side is going to corrode out but you will be left with a top shell.

Hopefully they do not have carbon (mild steeL) dust flying around in the Texas factory. That is usually the source of mild surface rust. I'm doubtful this is an actual problem. If it is, then it needs to be promptly addressed throughout the manufacturing process...

Lying about my experience? I’ll post pictures tomorrow when it’s daytime to show you. I picked it up in Dublin yesterday (Thursday) it was pouring raining, drove it up to Sacramento and there’s a bunch of tiny orange specks and a few water spots. The orange dots aren’t huge, they’re very tiny but they’re apparent. Sure I haven’t washed the car yet but it’s only been two days in the rain.

Tiny orange specks sound like carbon dust. So that might fly off from a grinder being used near by. Or it can become embedded in abrasives. Also it might get on the surface after manufacture from some other outside source.

Somewhere else I've mentioned some possible remedies, but anyway, sounds like it needs a good surface cleaning at the very least...

While PPF, or any wrap for that matter should NOT be porous, the idea of 'lifting edges' could potentially lead to trapped moisture! hmmmmm
