Loaded our fridge in Pittsburgh to take to our other place in Detroit - the weight and drag ended up making it a nail biter at one point when the truck said we wouldn’t make it to the next supercharger and we were 10 miles away from it on I-80. Everything shut down and in the last 1/8 mile we pretty much coasted only able to go 15mph barely able to see out the windows. We made it to the supercharger and were so grateful. Heads up to anyone else hauling in below freezing temps - avoid doing it but if you must charge to ensure that each stop or final destination you want to have at least 20% battery upon arrival otherwise you might find yourself stranded along the road/hwy.

On a recent trip near zero degree temperatures I was losing up to 10% of arrival state of charge between stops. In good weather, you can essentially follow the trip guidance, when it says ready to go. In cold weather, I always go 10%+ over when it says you can leave, the trip meter doesn't seem to calculate for energy loss in very cold weather.

I had a Ford Lightning before this and it did the same thing in cold temps, was always underestimating energy usage. I wonder if there are any EVs that read the outside temperature and accurately scale back the energy usage on a trip?

A true battery cell breakthrough can't come soon enough. We can only dream about a 400 mile range CT in "real world" conditions.
I feel the same way, but I don't even come close to the range stated on the screen after charging. I am usually at or a few mph over the limit. I would be happy with the 254 it used to say at 80%! It is not even close

I also struggle in the winter. Miles City MT to Billings. With a load like that it doesn't work or towing anything when it is -5F or so. 145 miles. Either have to go dramatically lower than speed limit or skip the heat. Sure charge to 100% is usually the answer, but do people understand how long that takes. Montana is 640 across. I live on the other side of it.

I find the CT to be closest of any Tesla to rated range, but I’ve never had any issue with the accuracy of the navigation prediction in any Tesla. Obviously in the OPs situation, there’s no way for nav to predict the impact of a fridge in the bed.

I frequently drive from FL to AR, one of the stops I charged to 279 miles of range remaining according to the truck. The map said 155 miles to the next supercharger and i would arrive with 10%. Could be the hills or high headwinds. It was correct that I arrived with 10%, but that range meter was off by 100 miles or so.

The more I read about others experiences the more I think this truck blows balls. I’m slowly tiring into a hater
This is a criticism for all EVs. If you do a lot of long distance driving where temperatures are below freezing, it isn't that a Cybertruck is bad, it is that any EV doesn't work well in this use case. Saying this truck "blows balls" isn't a fair statement.

I have arrived with 7% range at -8 F trust the car it has never left me stranded. It is usually within a percent or 2 of original estimates.

It was the cold temp and drag. That is not heavy enough to make a difference. Glad it worked out for you though. Did you charge to 100% before hand?
Yes, left with 100. Could tell it was heavy especially since the truck auto adjusted height to compensate and as we got to 0% the truck had lowered down. Soon as we plugged in to charge it auto adjusted back up.

Easily solved by laying the appliance down, and thus not creating a massive aerodynamics problem. Are you new to pickups and hauling?
