1. Why didn’t you lay the fridge down?
2. What do these stickers say?
Pitt to Det didn’t think it was short distance- it was a 6 hr drive and didn’t want to risk any leaks

So back to the fridge. Those things that contain refrigerant need to be stored upright or in original usage condition. The oil in the compressor will move around and make it not a good sit. One could lay it on the side, and wait some time, but the problem might be the bed length.

I just hauled a commercial fridge, laid it on its side entire time.. Let it sit for 48 hrs upright before I turned it on.. No problems

Ok did it fit the bed of the CT? Here I don't think it does. One can't lay it on the area behind the glass roof without wrecking the rolling mechanism. Kudos for you and your moving. Most buy a fridge at home depot. I know mine (built in) would never fit in the bed any other way other than upright.

54x32x82 high fit on its side with tailgate open no problem. Strapped it and hauled it for about 70 miles.. Now I wish I took a picture and bragged about a truck doing truck things in the other thread :D

Yeah, the rule of thumb that I always heard was that it needs to be stood up for twice as long as it was laying down before plugging it back in. I'd still rather not lay it down if I could help it to avoid the risk. But that's just me.

Shout out from the Burg! The PSA is appreciated, I discovered the same info but on YouTube:

As others have mentioned, weight makes negligible impact but the aero hit is tremendous. The tarp and ratchet straps make it even worse. I understand it's unavoidable in this situation, so just add a buffer like you said and you'll be fine.

Personally I don't understand the whining about "range sucks = this truck sucks". Hell even Achilles had a friggin weak spot. I could go around all day shitting on other trucks (and would gladly do so) for riding like an ox cart, turning like an aircraft carrier, being slow as hell, having a 4 ft bed, not being able to drive itself (for the most part), not having 240V power, yada yada yada

The solution to range is stopping and charging. Even if it's every two hours, 30 mins flies by. Long distance hauling isn't its strong point, but hell it does stuff nothing else can. Can't have it all 🤷‍♂️

Cold reduces range. Drag reduces range. This is non-controversial.

The longtime lurkers/posters here have read about such effects many times.

If your current efficiency is insufficient to reach a charger, slow down. Drag increases exponentially with speed. Disabling climate will save a few Wh in a pinch.

Yes, there are thousands of examples where the CT has beat the odds doing real truck stuff.

Agreed, any EV don’t like the cold.

But in the end this is what the CT was most likely intended for daily…

right but that was only 70 miles - not over 200 miles - it’s ok to lay down for short distances but we hauled for over 200 miles and we didn’t have 48 hrs to wait and then plug back in…we chose the best option we thought that would be the safest, quickest, and most inexpensive option given the circumstances and constraints we were up against.

I carry a CCS to NACS adapter. If I can't get to a Supercharger before the battery is completely drained, I often have the option of charging at a non-Tesla charger. Warning: It can be a frustrating experience if you haven't done it before.
