There was a generic thread about Hansshow rearview mirrors in general and some questions (many unanswered until this article and video) in that topic thread so I answered what I could there and here in the Hansshow forum I started a thread to talk about the latest rearview mirror along with the article and video that was produced and to answer any questions. If I missed another thread like this one please let me know. Thx.

I'm guessing you aren't watching the videos in the other threads, that first thread is a completely different mirror, looks like the Gen 1 to me. Different install, different settings, different size, different cameras etc. etc. etc.

The second thread posted is also a completely different mirror, again a prior generation.

Hansshow released a Gen 1 mirror, then released an update and eventually what they called a Gen 2, but now they have a newer one also called V2 which is confusing because it should be called 2.5 or 3.0 which is the one my post, article and video is about.

I am trying to clear up the confusion with the latest mirror which is NOT documented by Hansshow as the install instructions and video from Hansshow are for the earlier Gen 2 mirror not the new V2 mirror which again should be called 2.5 or V3 to avoid this confusion. Evidently, I'm not doing a good job clearing up the confusion because you are quoting topic threads with old versions of the mirror to me. :)

To be crystal clear, the new mirror:
- Is a completely different mirror size and shape from prior units
- Installs with a completely different integrated front camera, no more separate wiring
- Installs with a completely different wiring harness, no more tapping into the computer and causing issues
- Installs with a completely different rear camera with different extension cable
- Completely new rear camera does NOT fit into some of the prior housings thus requiring a new housing or modification to existing ones
- Substantially changed configuration interface with different options than on prior mirrors
- Other miscellaneous but sometimes significant changes and improvements, all of which are documented in my new article and video.

Again, hopefully I am being clearer as to why this new article and video, why this topic thread, etc. if you need anything further, please let me know!

This is the product I’m currently waiting to get. It is overpriced now.

Looks clean. Nice job.

I am interested in a rearview mirror but I’ve become less interested messing with the gps/FSD camera area, I had complications with V1. Any idea how difficult it would be to fabricate a mount for top of the center console screen or even dash?

It's a different mirror and the install is different. Good install video, thank you for leaving your mistakes in the video too - it's helpful.
Thank you. I figured others can benefit from my mistakes and far too often I see install videos and wonder what they left out because it goes too perfectly. I try to be as even handed as I can in my articles and videos so that others can form their own opinions based on what I've gone through and what is right for them.

Does the discount code they gave me to give out help you? I think it is for 20% off. I think they are having a July 4th sale as well. If you do get it then I hope the article and video helps.

Honestly I wouldn't be worried about mounting it where the rear view mirror goes. I've had that plastic piece down now several times for radar detector tinkering and as long as you don't rip something down you should be fine. As for mounting elsewhere as long as you made your mount have the same round end as the piece that mounts to the mirror (the half attached to the mirror) then I suppose you could mount it elsewhere but you might have cords running around your dash to hide. If you mount this way please share with others here, but again I don't think mounting it where the mirror goes is really any problem. What problem did you have with V1?

I’m actually waiting for it to get down to 249 Without any coupon. I’m very cheap :)

Have you tried any other displays. I like the quality of those types of mirrors, but they all have connections on the edge, which I personally don’t like. My setup has the connections coming out of the “post” and it’s all tucked away under the plastics in the CT. But the quality of my mirror is total garbage.

I have not tried any others because I saw the shortcomings with some prior ones and decided to wait for a bit. I understand what you mean about the wires coming out of the top and yes I suppose it could be cleaner by having those run through the post in some way but honestly I don't really notice or pay attention to them so it doesn't bother me, plus my radar detector, even though hard wired, still has a cord too.

Where did you pull power for your radar detector? I have a Radenso but I'm thinking about switching to a V1G2.
