"am I being scammed?"

Allow me to answer your question using part of your post title:

"from eBay".

Sounds like the EBayer got a stock of rejected light bars. So theirs ARE probably all like that.

Looking for a deal on one off eBay as well. Didn't want it initially but after seeing it in person on a truck, I'm sold.

How about a lightbar specific sticky for sale thread so people can have direct interactions with other members rather than a stranger on eBay?
Thoughts @Administrator ?

Really wish we could just buy these from Tesla and have them installed, the CT has been out long enough.
Not all CBs have had their off road light bars installed. I waited 13 months and there are still plenty out there just getting their appointments. Once they complete the program they will probably be available to order for non-CBs.

I hope so, because honestly I’ll buy one right away.

I showed my Tesla SC the pics and they agreed. They said they would not be allowed to install those.

They also think this person somehow got a hold of a bunch of rejects. He thinks they probably work just fine but with all those blemishes they would send back.

So if you buy eBay or anywhere for that matter beware of anything touted as new. It maybe be new in the sense where not used or mounted before but probably not without blemish. Likely a reject.

Had the seller just sold stating has minor blemishes damage he would be fine but trying to come off as brand new etc...trying to get top dollar.

Well back to square 1. If anyone is interested in selling please hit me up.

Thanks

May I propose, I wrapped mine in dark blue PPF because I have cantrails that color and was going for a bluey “mask” type of look, but you could just as easily wrap it in gloss black and save yourself quite a bit of money so long as you take your time and do it nicely.
I’d still go after the guy and try get your money back from PayPal/ebay or whoever but there is a near zero chance they will ask you to ship back the lightbar. So why not try it and if you’re unhappy with the result, then buy a new one?
Lots of pics of my wrapped bar in the thread linked below.
Also worth noting, I fucked up the bottom and the connectors way worse than yours but still eeked out a pretty good outcome I think with some 4th quarter effort.

Yeah, those stubs that were left of your connecting cable were almost non-existent! Nice repair job!!

Thank you. And the melted bottom from the heat gun interaction and the scraped adhesive and all that stuff. Could not have done it without your help by the way so thanks again.
Nothing insurmountable is what I’m saying and for $2500 from Tesla it may be worth a shot and a little of your time.
We live in a disposable culture no doubt, but there are circumstances where the things our dads taught us still apply.

Just received my email to schedule my install. I’m not planning on installing it. Let me know if you are interested.
