I just had mine replaced at 58k miles... 6700 here. I am extremely disappointed to have to do such an expensive repair in a year and a half.. The service advisor said it's a known issue and didn't think there had been any changes or improvements. I really hope this get addressed.

I love everything about my truck other than this!
I just found out today that the dealer will not fix the car under warranty but is charging me $3100 for the replacement of the PCS. This is really upsetting. We should not have to pay these repair costs for something they know is a faulty product. I encourage everyone that's had this happen to them to report the incident to NHTSA so Tesla can make this right for everyone past, present, and future. Even if you got it fixed under warranty, NHTSA needs to know that this affected a lot of cars in order for them to force a recall. Hopefully, you, me, and everyone else that had to pay or will have to pay will get a refund or not pay at all.

FYI, NHTSA cares about safety and regulation compliance based issues. Charging (or lack thereof) isn't in that scope.
Better luck might be had via your state's attorney general or the FTC https://www.usa.gov/car-complaints.
However, unless you specifically opted out, the purchase agreement included an arbitration clause which may supersede those routes (I'm no lawyer).

Picked my car up yesterday after a two month ordeal to get an HVAC temp sensor fixed. The seat belt retractor was part of that same service but kept getting pushed back because they said I kept adding issues to the repair order. I kept escalating since the seat belt is a safety issue. They eventually sent a mobile tech, but it took three attempts because the first two appointments flaked.

I was already going back because during the HVAC repair they removed the emergency button controls cover and now it will not stay in place. That trim was already replaced once back in October.

Less than 4 hours after pickup, I now have a PCS/onboard charger failure. AC charging is disabled... Back to service again on Thursday. Glad to see they ended up covering yours!

This thread, and others, are making me afraid to drive my CT! It’s like not if something horrible is going to happen, but when and how bad. Awful. Thankfully mine isn’t a daily driver so I’ll likely hit 48 months long before the mileage limit. But then what?😮

I'm curious what's causing the failures. Frequent high amp AC charging? Heavy loads? Does Supercharging impact the PCS? 🤷‍♂️


EDIT: For those paying for the repair, ask for the old parts. Don't know if it has been done or considered, get failed to PCS' to someone that can do component level diagnostics.

There have been various part number revisions but there is no public information about what, if anything changed with each of these revisions

The online parts catalog lists the PCS as "1777777-T2-G". Since the suffix usually denotes a revision, there may have been as many as 7 different versions. I found a PCS on eBay labeled as "1777777-12-E". I'd check my own early-2024 PCS, but don't want to bother with the required disassembly lol.

So I do believe there have been revisions, but obviously I don't know what exactly was revised. It would be in Tesla's own interest to improve the reliability of an expensive, warrantied part.

I think what @Mini2nut was getting at was this PCS was supposed to be a better one with greater redundancies than past PCS's. Yes there are revisions. Those revisions aren't always improvements to quality as consumers always think.

I would say they aren't. Many PCS's from other Tesla's have one cell go bad. so one loses 12 amps or whatever the math is. Yet it often still works. I am seeing complete failures more than I see reductions lately. So much for redundancies.
