Well, it's 10 minutes later........
😂

Okay to be honest, and I'm not exaggerating. I felt like installing my unplugged performance rock sliders were easier. The toughest part really was just getting the damn cables loose and I was extra careful because I didn't want to overextend or break a clip.

I didn't have any issues with the extension cable or plug that others have noted. I have a foundation series cyberBeast.

No instruction manual. As others have stated. The QR code goes to the wrong page. The video that it links to stops midway through. Likely because he's not installing a V2 He's installing a V1. So they cut the tail end of the video. Which which wasn't missing a whole lot beyond reconnecting the temperature sensor again.

I did have one mistake in which I put the bracket on upside down. Might have helped to have instructions to avoid that. But it was clear which way it goes when you look at the back of the screen mount and see which way the opening is facing.

I'm a bit surprised at how far out it comes. It's roughly two and a half inches away from the dashboard. You can see in the pic below where I have a behind the screen tray that used to be flush with the back of the screen.

Glad there were no issues. Can you include a pic of the underside? Just for comparison's sake.

These swivels are made in China and sold by resellers here in the U.S. I have the first generation and 10 months later we are seeing the swivel height raised after constant feedback from this site. I doubt you will see any modifications for some time. These are bulk shipments and soon you will have other resellers selling them on this site with the same issue. Best to wait until the manufacturer makes them so the usb fits safely.

lol no way this is milled or laser cut, that would cost money!
These are cast, you can see some of the flashing on the images of the bracket up close. Cheapest way of making these parts.

I'm gonna wait until this is redesigned to v3 or they drop the price significantly to make up for the fact that I will have to modify the product myself to make it work.
Even if it was cast it can still be done, the reason I think it is milled is when I was cutting it, it was actually pretty solid and difficult to cut. Usually when cutting something cast its porous on the inside and much softer.

Well I was one of the winners of the V2 mount, and I got my mount a few days ago. Was able to get it installed today. It took me an hour and a half. Ok I also was doing it outside in the dark and in the rain. So I was fighting no room and no light.
I can say the install wasn’t the hardest thing I did, it was more fighting the instructions and a video that was made with what I think was V1, and the directions I had didn’t quite line up with what the video said and what I ended up finally doing to get things done. It wasn’t far off, so I would say just some modifications to the install directions and some spaces between the words! See pic of directions.
I don’t have the issue with the USB cable getting caught on the mount for some reason, so that was good for me, When I put in the screen, yes it got a little hung up but just moved the cable down a little and it went right in.
It’s dark and raining here so I’ll try to get photos of the back side and underside tomorrow.
So without even using it, it feels solid and takes a little pressure to move it side to side and up and down. I don’t think it will move on any roadways, or light trials. Again I just got it in and haven’t even been able to drive with it yet. I’ll let you know how it does tomorrow.
Thanks @Tesstudio

I contacted them about this issue and also sent a picture of mine with the washer and I got a response today. Looks like they are going to be working on improving the design.

I too was fortunate to be selected to receive one for free. I am going to wait a bit as I have an SC appointment at the end of October to fix a faulty passenger seat sensor. I’d prefer to not have the swivel screen installed so as to not bring attention to the fact I modified things slightly and in case the SC wants to question that as part of my seat issue. Probably overthinking it, but I’ll just wait to install and maybe in the meantime better instructions will surface.

That's great that they actually listen to us and address the problems we mention. If it was a stupid issue, sure - ignore it, but to me and OP and others who do happen to have that large gap, it's a legit safety concern. Not everyone seems to have this issue obviously as others installed it with no problem, but I'm glad they stepped up and are going to address it.

Okay, My kit has arrived yesterday and tried to install it, and almost damaged my cable port.

I couldn't fit in the screen and there even were no space for washers, about 4mm of cable was blocking the metal bracket.

I ended up re-installing my original screen.

Anyone with the new V2 (i guess it doesn't matter) know the bolt size for the screen side of the mount? I'm guessing they are metric. My kit should be coming today and I was thinking about grabbing some machine screws on the way home about 1/4" longer with some nylon spacers........just in case.

Used some longer bolts and nylon washers. That fixed the clearance issue. However the housing needed modification and it still isn't on right.

Anyone who's not handy or patient with their work, I'd recommend skipping this product for now. Should not have to run to home Depot for parts and break apart plastic to get this to work.

Those that want to try, these are the bolts and washers I got.

Once you get those, there are some thin plastic pieces inside the housing which just twist off worth a pair of pliers real easy.

I feel like if they include these bolts and washers, provide actual instructions for both sets of bolts, and trim the housing, then this would be great.

Side note, it feels solid once in. Doubt it will move around at all unless you're on a Baja run.

Thank you. When is the new version that addresses the defect going to be released? I have the V1 and would consider upgrading to the V2 but I'd rather wait so I don't have to do all the modifying to it again to just make it work.
