Congratulations, $68,000 is still way over the promised price in 2019 when we all ordered our trucks. Here’s a picture of my beasts!
Very nice CTs!!

It's definitely a lot more than originally, but I think is fair. 5 years ago was a different time. McDonald meals had increased the same percent. I was looking at new 4Runners, Tacomas, and Landcruisers, decent spec was 50k-60k.

I’m in the same boat I got solar in my house in New England, Connecticut and the house in Georgia does not, but I can use power share down there with the blue beast whenever I bring it back in the winter time going for a second unit after they make it work with the Solar some people say it some people say it doesn’t right now we’re still in the waiting game
Would it be a good idea to install the gateway and have to ready for if and when they do make the updates or I should hang onto the equipment until the update is officially out?

Great minds think alike I actually installed. My gateway, made all the connections and I actually use it the power of my truck until Tesla signs off on it and then activates the software in your phone. Then you could turn on the purple button so I’m just waiting for a installer to come check all my wiring Because it has to be a Tesla certified installer and then they can turn it on

I won't lie, I didn't think they'd actually deliver any RWD's. First one I've actually seen IRL pictures of.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I actually quite like the wheels, certainly more than the core wheels standard on the dual motor.

I was observing about a dozen between August and September in the Florida region inventory demos. All had Cyber wheels option, until few weeks ago, one popped up as inventory.

I think there were some driving around, but would be difficult to spot with Cyber wheels, unless can see the missing power tonneau.

I'll get a quote on the install sometime next month and get that part out of the way. Thanks!

The core wheels without the covers are the best wheels Cybertruck has to offer. May be the unpopular opinion. The core wheels with covers are terrible.

Next best are the Cyber wheels with the aero cover.

Yeah, but in five years, it didn’t go from 39,000 to 68,000, the price of a happy meal is not up over 200% and neither is a Toyota Tesla took a huge markup! Just imagine if they came out with a truck for $40,000 they couldn’t keep up with production. I go back and buy two more.!

If the truck was $40k I'd buy another one for sure. Even the RWD model, OP updated the pics and I don't hate it as much as I thought I would. I kinda like it with the steelie 18' wheels.

OP did you buy the cloth tonneau cover? Can we get some pics of the back and the bed?

Ford F150 Lightning has entered the chat lol.

I watched in real time as Ford jacked up the price of F150 Lightnings (and Bronco, etc.). My neighbor bailed on his deposit because of it. Today, the starting price is 30% higher than it was when it was introduced 3 years ago (not 5)! A lot of the inflation came during COVID (2020-2021), so I'd argue it's a lot more than 30%, probably more like 50% (for vehicles anyways), so the $40k in 2019 is closer to $52-$60k today. Now that's still cheaper than the $62,500 Tesla was selling it for (with tax credit), but stuff happens. At least it was actually better than the prototype, unlike most car companies (looking at you Chevy Volt).

BTW, my guess is none of this is going to matter in a year. FSD will be unsupervised, and everyone and their brother will be clamoring for any Tesla they can get a hold of...

Alright, more like around +30% for the Big Mac. RWD went from 39k to 62k (the 68k was my destination and tax/fees). Originally the RWD was 250 mile range. If they had removed 100 miles from the battery, would have been in the 50s.

Either way, in 2019 I was thinking they were too optimistic with the starting price 40k. Also, the 500 miles range.

Why do you say misleading and incorrect things like this? Cybertruck prices are not 200% higher than the price Tesla anticipated (not promised) at the 2019 reveal either! That would put the price of the RWD at $120,000!

On the other hand, the 2019 price of two McDouble's was $3 flat. Now they are $3.65 each (or two for $7.30). That's a much bigger increase in actual prices than the increase from the anticipated RWD price to the actual release price.

Just imagine if they came out with a truck for $40,000 they couldn’t keep up with production. I go back and buy two more.!
What would be the point of Tesla selling fabulous products, in high volume, for less than the cost of production? 2019 was a different time and Tesla never promised you could buy a RWD for $40K, putting $100 down simply reserved you a spot in line, should you wish to buy after they developed it and it was available. It was well understood that Tesla would confirm the actual price before anyone committed to purchase.

Ford and GM both sell their electric trucks at a loss, because they have to in order to sell the very modest volumes they do. Tesla can sell the Cybertruck at current volumes (which is increasing, BTW) while most likely making a small profit. That's an important indicator of which truck is more viable in the marketplace going forward. Because pricing power, as volumes increase, matters a lot. Both Ford and GM are underwater currently, when it comes to pricing power.
