Lockers -- What do we actually know?

I've seen it discussed a few times, once by Frans, perhaps it was the extended Munro video.

I watched all the videos. The engineer only mentioned the front locker on the Cyberbeast.

Yep. I'm hoping TFL gets one to test since they actually do decent off-camber traction tests.

Nice, thanks! At least Drew works at Tesla and should know the specs. It's odd that we're a month out from initial deliveries and we still have no truck usage reviews. Everyone seems to think 0-60 tests are all anyone cares about.

Agreed. I don't think any truck owners have one yet. I'll be comparing it to my Raptor, which is more of a sport truck, and my Plaid. I'm replacing both with the CyberTruck.

Right now, I think the CyberTruck is too expensive to abuse off road so you won't see many doing it. Perhaps in 3 years when the prices start dropping or they start hitting the used market.

Tesla keeps quiet, happy to let the gorilla marketing campaign work for them, seems to be a solid strategy.

But you posted a photo that only states the tri-motor has a front locker. You didn't post a photo of the specs listed for your dual-motor.

Yes, that is the official Tesla mention of a front locker on the tri-motor. Still nothing in writing from Tesla regarding front and/or rear locker on the dual-motor. I'd be surprised to find no front locker on the dual-motor simply because it would require variation in the assembly line. But as for a rear locker, that would require a UI change and an assembly change, although the fact that there is only one rear motor instead of two negates that assembly line change since one vs. two motors requires a change anyway.

Again, I've seen and heard no official evidence of a rear locker on the dual-motor, and only mention of a front locker on the tri-motor.

The UI snapshot @Rutrow posted is the best evidence I've seen, assuming those "VITALS" squares are on/off buttons. They sure look like they could be, although the "VITALS" naming is a bit odd.

The front motor of the Cyberbeast is not the same as the AWD motor (Permanent magnet versus induction motor) . Regardless the lead engineer and designer have said directly, multiple times it has front lockers (both AWD and Cyberbeast)

I have seen official word from Tesla that the tri-motor Cyberbeast comes with a front locker.

But do we have any official word or evidence that the AWD dual-motor will come with front and/or rear lockers?

Im ready and willing to believe any evidence, but none has been presented. Tesla doesn’t have a department to ask. Service techs won’t know anything yet even if I could ask one.

Only thing different in the front motor between the configurations is the stator (AWD induction, beast permanent. The rear motor of the AWD is the same at the front but with a permanent magnet stator.
