I hate that in mid 2025, after all the YAHOO about NACS winning the platform wars, Cybertrucks still struggle with no native CCS adaptor and f*ck*ng EA and others will not retrofit a couple existing chargers to NACS in the way underserved supercharger areas. IONNA is a promise of a solution, but they are slooooowwwllly showing up.

But a POX upon the 3rd party charge companies who won't adopt NACS. They will disappear...............
None of this is surprising.

Tesla won't make a CCS adapter for the Cybertruck because they know CCS is already in the beginning of it's own death throes.

The third-party charge networks were always designed to be worse than filling up with gas. They were not designed to excel. This is not necessarily true for new startups, I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two of them rise above the ashes, but not on a scale that could hope to catch up to the Supercharger Network.

Tesla still makes/ sells the short snout S/X/3/Y adapter though, and those mostly have better range, especially at higgway speeds.
Slow charge is better than no charge.
Cybertruck charge curve is under 125kW when above ~60% SOC.
3rd party charging makes our trips into the Supercharger desert much better.
(Though it turns out the location has one NACS and one CCS, so adapter wasn't critical).

The advertising say the cybertruck adapters are "cybertruck only". Anyone know why? I would love to be able to use it on my other vehicles but don't need two (we generally road trip in the CT *or* the S - never both).
My guess is that it has to do with the cybertruck having a 800V battery. My A2Z adapter has not worked on 2 different CCS chargers and my guess is that those chargers hung up on a request for 800V charging.

Reach out to them. If you got an early version, they had issues with certain CCS chargers. They promptly sent me a new one that worked.

It's possible the interlock finger length is specific to Cybertruck.
Or it's because the longer snout is not needed for the other vehicles and would cause more strain, in which case it would work on other cars.

I'm glad there are folks out there testing range and location limits, but I will not be buying or using any adapters since I don't want to reward or participate in any dead charging standard; especially one as daft and disgusting as CCS.

Anyone's grandma can operate NACS, but CCS would be a struggle if not downright impossible since it's so heavy and clunky. And I don't take kindly to companies who design something like that.

I am using Tesla's CCS adapter with EVject. It is rock solid combo and hasn't caused me any problems.

There are still a few spots where Tesla chargers are out of range. But I really would never use an adapter especially with the CT. You literally double the failure points. I just took my CT up into northern MN for a week. I was able to make things work with level 2 and superchargers. We just need to up vote some of those sparse locations.

Shameless plug (heh, pun) for the Supercharger site voting

If you have no dog in the fight, Show Low AZ, Globe AZ, Pinetop-Lakeside AZ, Springerville AZ, and Thatcher AZ would greatly appreciate your votes. It truly is a charging desert on the AZ/NM border and it's some of the most beautiful places you will ever see.

I've visited CCS chargers that attach the cables to a self-retracting line, so that it's always pulling on the connection. I usually end up standing there holding it, like I'm pumping gas. Hmmph.
I wonder if it wouldn't be useful to carry a sandbag or two and a C-arm clamp for my tripod that's in the back of the car for situations like that. You can have it hold it doen or up.

Good idea. Or a visegrip on the retractable line so it can't retract. I think I'll throw one into my tool kit now.

What I need is an extension cable for a TESLA supercharger, 6'-8' would work.
The last SC site I visited I had to angle park in the handicap parking slot to get the stock cable to reach the truck.

What was different about the two adapters? I had one that was really tight and difficult to connect to the CCS head (and remove too). It had issues with some CCS chargers. In fact, there could be multiple identical units at the same site and it would work with one and not the other.

They sent me a new one that clicks easily into a CCS head. I haven't had a chance to try it with various CCS charge stations yet though... but wondering if the tight fitment was the issue, perhaps preventing the pins from centering the way they wanted. The CCS adapter is a flow-through, so other than the physical connections, there shouldn't be any magic in getting the charger to communicate with the truck.
