I don't know except that certain Chargepoint chargers just wouldn't charge. My original was difficult to connect and I had to push it hard. I still have it as they didn't want it back. But I don't know if that was the issue. They said the manufacturer of some Chargepoint chargers was an issue for them... they had told me the name... started with an "R"... but thats all I remember.What was different about the two adapters? I had one that was really tight and difficult to connect to the CCS head (and remove too). It had issues with some CCS chargers. In fact, there could be multiple identical units at the same site and it would work with one and not the other.
They sent me a new one that clicks easily into a CCS head. I haven't had a chance to try it with various CCS charge stations yet though... but wondering if the tight fitment was the issue, perhaps preventing the pins from centering the way they wanted. The CCS adapter is a flow-through, so other than the physical connections, there shouldn't be any magic in getting the charger to communicate with the truck.
