The Rivian R1S is a more traditional-looking, full-sized, three-row EV SUV. It has outsold the Model X in the US by nearly 2-to-1 this year (it's also outselling the Cybertruck). In California, the R1S is the top-selling vehicle in the "Luxury Large SUV" category, ahead of ICE competition like the Cadillac Escalade, Range Rover, Lexus TX, and Mercedes GLS.
I was going to get one but it doesn’t have auto park and it doesn’t have the FSD yet.
overall it’s really nice though.
I wanted to have someone really compare all the off road capabilities. The locking diffs on the cybertruck I think push it past the R1S…. I think

Most test seem to lean towards the R1S over the CT for offroading. Different platform and size, so it isn’t a fair comparison.

I don’t know man … I am really tempted by this thing. Definitely doesn’t help that: (1) 14.x it has been quite disappointing in many ways and (2) I’ve got some rust issues with my CB that I’m really pissed off about right now.
What type of rust issues are you looking at and where?

That municipal road salt, calcium chloride, is nasty stuff. It eats away at metal like cancer. Newer cars are better protected however with many manufacturers now using galvanized sheet metal.

Decades ago when I lived in the “rust belt” I can remember 3 year old vehicles having holes in the body from road salt. We used to call Plymouth Dusters “Rusters”.

I would be concerned about the steel suspension components on the CT suffering from corrosion issues as the years go by in the areas where municipal road salt is heavily used. The steel rear lower control arm design looks like it can easily catch and hold road salt and moisture.

Sorry, the cheapest RWD Cybertruck I can find in Tesla inventory is a demo unit priced at $69,440 in Savannah GA. That may not seem much lower than the base price of $69,990, but it includes the Cyber Wheels and AT tires, so it's actually $4,050 off.
Looks like Tesla has now started discounting the remaining RWD Cybertrucks. In California, Tesla Inventory shows that at least two stores (Colma and Thousand Oaks) currently have brand new RWDs (not demos) for $67,890, or $2,100 off the original price.

That's the lowest sticker price for a new CT that I've seen (although the effective cost of a new RWD CT was only $62,490 when the tax credit was in effect).

Looks like Tesla has now started discounting the remaining RWD Cybertrucks.
Looks like there are also discounts on new 2025 AWDs and Cyberbeasts in inventory, if you can find one.
Tesla inventory is currently showing new AWDs for $77,590 (or $2,400 off) and new CBs for $111,600 (or $3,390 off). They are still full price if you order one (with estimated delivery in 8-10 weeks).

The vehicles shown below are "available for faster pick up" in Savannah GA (AWD) and Pensacola FL (CB). You may be able to find similar discounts in other locations -- although as discussed previously in this thread, there just aren't a lot of new AWDs and CBs out there at this time.

here are two, 2WD discounted by $2100, 67k and 73k
New & Pre-Owned Electric Cars | Tesla

now lets price one of these out,
i added in the 3 basics

Show Pricing Details
CashFinance
  • Est. Purchase Price$83,735
Includes Destination and Order Fee
Edit Savings
Mobile Charger & Outlet Adapter$380
All-Weather Interior Liners$295
Sales TaxPending
Non-refundable Order Fee$250
Due Today$925

i would never pay $83,735 for a 2WD Cybertruck!

what ever happened to the $39,990 Cybertruck that 2 million people put down orders for!

this is why the Cybertruck is failing.
I ordered two 2WD 5.5 years ago paid my $100 deposit, and was expecting a
$40-46k truck, not $83,735.00

I currently own two 2024 Foundation Series Cyberbeasts, that i converted my 2 original orders too. I still want a 2WD, however NEVER at $83k

I'll buy a used AWD FS for $75k or less

I added PowerShare and a Mobil connector and an AWD is still cheaper than a striped down 2WD! This is why Cybertruck is failing!
Where is the $39,990 2WD truck?

Make it 45k and slam the door on the competition! 2 million orders were placed !

Stop the insanity!
Every contractor and delivery service, auto shop will purchase a $45k 2WD cybertruck!
Every middle class American will have one in their driveway!
What is Tesla waiting for!

Anyone else noticed there are almost no cybertrucks on inventory available anywhere?

New delivery times now estimate 8 to 10 weeks for delivery.

Something is going on: either some changes to the production line or the new battery that has been talked about last year?
So here's what we know:

1. The availability of new 2025 Cybertrucks in inventory seems to be unusually low. This is true for RWDs, AWDs, and CBs. Of course, there is greater availability if you include 2025 demos.

2. New 2025 CTs in inventory are being discounted. Again, this is true for RWDs, AWDs, and CBs. Of course, the 2025 demos are also getting discounts, but that's expected.

3. If you place an order for a new 2026 CT, the estimated delivery time is 8 to 10 weeks, with no discounts. This is true for both AWDs and CBs (you can no longer order an RWD).

If it was any other manufacturer, you would probably guess that they were discounting the remaining 2025s to move them off the lots and make room for the new and improved 2026s. Historically, that's not how Tesla has operated. But that's how it looks. Maybe something really is changing on the production line.

Great summary!
You would think they would be trying to move as many vehicles be end of year but maybe that focus is on M3 and MY; their bread and butter.

Chances are that the F-150 Lightning will be discontinued before the Cybertruck. Tesla can eke out a profit even with low-selling vehicles; the Model S and Model X sell in even lower numbers than the Cybertruck, and there is no sign that they are in danger.

Ford, on the other hand, wants high volumes from its models, and the Lightning is not delivering. Ford releases monthly sales figures; they only sold 1,543 Lightnings in October 2025 and just 1,006 in November 2025.

Of course, that hasn't stopped some media outlets from predicting the imminent demise of the Cybertruck. There is nothing new in the linked story, but I'll give them credit for creative imagery:
