šŸ’Æ wouldn’t even be a question and Tesla should’ve never let this happen! I shouldn’t even be remotely interested in that thing. I’ve never been interested in an Escalade before, but people who have been in it absolutely love it!!!!

Out of Spec motoring is running one in their new ā€œeastern edgeā€ EV race and Kyle and company can’t say enough nice things about it they absolutely love it! Massaging seats, heads up display, all of the best Cadillac/GM suspension features and then almost 500 miles of actual range it’s a winner for sure!!! As the good doctor (@hemiarch) said, the only thing it’s missing is FSD and Kyle thinks that blues cruise or whatever the fuck it is is nearly perfect on the highway so you’re only missing it on city streets.

I’m telling you right now if I wasn’t geared more towards off-road I think I might be picking one of these up and possibly trading in my CT for for it. 😬

I already have FSD and two other vehicles and if the new roadster ever gets released, I still might be a buyer of that one for a third.

😬😬

I don’t know man … I am really tempted by this thing. Definitely doesn’t help that: (1) 14.x it has been quite disappointing in many ways and (2) I’ve got some rust issues with my CB that I’m really pissed off about right now.
The charging cost would keep me using a ICE vehicle. I've seen pictures of $200+ charging cost for the Escalade...wild.

Counterpoint, Kyle said that he drove it something like 2000 miles and only had to charge it three times in their most recent video.

Yea it is like the guy at the pump complaining about filling his 38gallon gas tank while the guy with the 12 gallon civic goes "look how cheap my fillup was"

Except that the civic has a 12 gallon tank BECAUSE it consumes much less per mile.

Oh I think a cheap Cybertruck could sell like gangbusters. I just don't think the current design lends itself to realistically compete there any time soon. Real rear steering is a bit of an anti-Tesla feature in that it adds parts and complexity and it won't get cheaper. There's a reason it's only on high-end traditional trucks. And they can't make it optional because it would affect FSD learning. The Cybertruck as-is is much like a Model S in that there is a limit as to how cheap you can make it. They'll get the price down, but I don't think into the Workman territory.

So for now I think they need to play in the more premium segment but get that price down and/or add features to make it even better than the competition.

I'd be looking at a smaller Taco-sized truck that strips things like the bed cover, RWS, etc but uses similar steel, batteries to create some economies of scale. A Yukon-like CyberSUV I think would also be a hit. Carry over as much design and processes as you can to keep costs down but broaden your market and sales considerably.

Maybe they will make one now.

I agree with previous comments. A full-sized, proper SUV (like an Escalade or Tahoe) would be a game-changer. I have had many people (family especially) comment that they would love a more family-friendly SUV to haul not only people, but stuff, in an EV to save on gas. They often say that while the Model X is tempting, it does not fit the bill when it comes to cargo space and does not have the range sufficient for applications such as road trips to traveling soccer games or gatherings such as Thanksgiving. Besides its minivan-esque appearance (let’s be real), it does not capture the interests of most average sized American families. I don’t think cost is as much of an issue in this segment. A fully loaded Tahoe or Escalade can be well over $100k. I think it’s more a lack of practical application.

Counterpoint, the FJ Cruiser has a tank like a civic and consumption like a tank! šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

Yeah. To the above points, a solar input that required no thinking or extra gear and gave you even 10 miles per day would make me do it.

The Rivian R1S is a more traditional-looking, full-sized, three-row EV SUV. It has outsold the Model X in the US by nearly 2-to-1 this year (it's also outselling the Cybertruck). In California, the R1S is the top-selling vehicle in the "Luxury Large SUV" category, ahead of ICE competition like the Cadillac Escalade, Range Rover, Lexus TX, and Mercedes GLS.

That’s why I’m still planning on converting my super early Aptera reservation, if they ever produce the vehicles. I’m much closer to the beginning of the line for that than I was for my CT.

Isn't that almost 2x the price of a Cybertruck?

That’s true. If it had FSD I would have bought it.
