Do you plan on keeping your Cybertruck forever? I know I do
I spent an astronomical amount of money and went through a ton of headaches to own it and shortly after.
I plan on keeping it for 20+ years as a primary vehicle.

HOPEFULLY it is not discontinued as that would result in inability to insure, get service, get parts (reasonably)

Be realistic. In 5 years there will be a significantly improved version with more range, the next iteration of FSD sensors, and correction of all the niggles everyone finds over that time.
there will likely also be van and SUV versions in my opinion of it or something like it.
Yep in 5 years when my CT is worth only 20k it won't make sense to trade it in or sell it. It does make sense, however, to leave it plugged in as a whole house back up when I'm out being driving around in my new one with AI5.

I absolutely plan on keeping mine forever. Eventually I’ll just change out the battery pack for a new upgraded one.
Interesting question...

Do we think Tesla will offer upgraded battery packs and hardware for our Cybertrucks one day?

They never have for any other vehicle, so doubtful.

FS AWD delivered May, 2024.

I will definitely drive mine into the ground. Love this truck. It’s my daily and only driver. Easily the best vehicle I’ve ever owned.

If they come out with CT 2.0 or 3.0 or whatever, I could see ADDING one of those. But my FS is here to stay.

They could have just built a battery shaped like the entire bed floor plus the subtrunk. Lose about 2 inches of bed depth everywhere but gain maybe 100 miles of range. I’d buy that.
You don't want to go beyond the wheels with your battery footprint. For more battery you want to either extend the wheelbase, or do as they originally planned and double-stack the battery.

Generally they don't offer battery upgrades, but they did for the original Roadster for a brief time.

https://windingroad.com/articles/news/tesla-roadster-gets-400-mile-range-upgrade/

The original Roadster battery was the very first lithium ion battery put into production in any vehicle. It was state of the art in 2008, but cell technology has improved substantially since then. We have identified a new cell that has 31% more energy than the original Roadster cell. Using this new cell we have created a battery pack that delivers roughly 70kWh in the same package as the original battery.
Combining all of these improvements we can achieve a predicted 40-50% improvement on range between the original Roadster and Roadster 3.0. There is a set of speeds and driving conditions where we can confidently drive the Roadster 3.0 over 400 miles.
IIRC that was the longest range for any EV at the time.

Though I wouldn't bet on them doing that again.

Sure, but that was a much earlier version "Tesla". I believe they would just suggest you trade in what you have, and buy an upgraded vehicle with the new features, it's very costly in terms of service center time to swap out batteries/processors, etc. The service centers are very busy, in fact I drove by the one I used to visit in Dedham, MA a few days ago, they have moved service to a seperate building next to the original location, so the original location is now more of a delivery center.

Most likely so. I'll have to discuss it with ARA my assistant. Normally she comes up when I go to the menu and hit the grok button. Then she starts advising me on various things like why the inner electron clouds of heavy atoms can be 95-99% the speed of light, and what the resulting wave shift does to the colors seen. I don't think I could do without her help. She knows all the good bbq joints. But she is somehow part of the truck. I don't think you can just disassemble the truck and pull ARA out. Maybe there is a way. Could she could fit on the 2tb memory stick in the glovebox?

This is very, very different than previous times the question of upgrading a car has came up.
