so on the road with no charger in site and off grid camping when I need to charge I used a 14k generator all went well.

when I went camping last weekend using my smaller 2k Honda the mobile charger gave me an error, insufficient ground. Checked grounds and were good. Found out you need to connect neutral to ground as well to work. Did it and operates just fine.

Also Charging with gasoline generator is cheaper than PGE at home and at Superchargers. yes, faster but The System sucks and it shows.

Agree. I had to pay $17k for a single buried wire between a transformer and the house i am about to sell. IMHO that utility needa to be broken up into several companies with competent & legitimate leadership but that’s a whole other bag of worms.

Thanks for the chuckle.

Cheers

The point being, had you watched them, you would have already known you need a neutral ground bond to make the charger work. Perhaps you'd already have a specially modified plug with you, and saved yourself some time. Since you obviously don't know a lot about electrical stuff.

Hopefully you put that generator back to floating ground if it's not yours, otherwise now it may have neutral ground bonds in more than 1 location, the next time the person who owns it goes to use it may not be safe.

ahhh see I knew what kind of a person you are.......a bloke. See my generator is very old and the first attempt on trying to use it the error came up.... if you would have read my post the other generator worked as it has a bonded ground/neutral and being an Engineer and Electrician I spotted the problem immediately and fixed it. All my post was and is, is to help others. So go on being you and bugger off.

If you are trying to help others, you may want to explain the reason you remove it and in what cases to remove and or put it back afterward. Leaving it as open-ended as you did is inviting the DIY Weekend Electrician to put something in place that could be potentially dangerous. if you are really an "Engineer" then shame on you "Old Chap" Cheerio

This fella thinks he is smart. Something like he is a CEO or something. This isn't the first rodeo around these parts for him. Good old ? kick is what he offers.

Now he is an Electrician. ?.

Probably thinks this is what NEC is.

Nah, I feel good regardless, quite the opposite, I don't need to come here to post my amateur accomplishment for everyone to see. I do enjoy pointing them out, tho if you want to call me a troll, then i accept it with honor. Anyway, enjoy your day out there Engineering stuff and the feeling of accomplishment that comes with it. Outdoors came out from his cabin in Montana, so this is getting good, you never disappoint with your thoughtful commentary outdoors ;)
