If you already own a 2 door ICE, then why are you driving a TRUCK on long trips? Trucks (of ANY type) use LOTS more 'fuel' and will take a lot longer to 'refuel' than a little 2 door car...much needed ramp up. Was on my first trip and discovered that charging is not fun nor cheap. 250 kwh stations are rare. 30-60 mins charge time is no go. also prices are now 3x vs last charge 5 yrs ago lol. Hope v4 will reduce Time + Costs. otherwise, my 2 doors ICE would be better for winter long distance!
If you can't afford to drive a 'truck' on long trips, then don't... Just use your little 2 door and save time and money...
I imagine you can refuel in about 3-4 minutes also... It might still cost more (gas vs SC) depending on where you get gas, but what kind of commute are you going on (daily) that you need to charge up for every day?
I drive 88 miles for my commute (44 per way) plus a little more to run errands, so I 'plan' for 100 miles per day(only 3 days a week, much less the other 4), but even then I have my car set to charge up to 70% and it rarely uses more than 30% in a day... BUT, because I plug in every day at home I don't even notice the time I am SAVING from NOT going to the gas station twice a week like I used to... And of course it's saving me all that 'gas' money too! Last year I spent $1,327 to charge (82% at home and 18% at SCs) and SAVED $1,638! And that's with sky high prices for electricity in California! ($0.26 per kWh OFF PEAK!!)
But hey, any way I look at it, I have a car that is ALWAYS at 2/3rds of a 'tank' when I get up in the morning AND it's REALLY fun to drive (or, let IT drive!)...
I use our Model Y for the commute and the truck is used locally (gets better mileage local than long distance) for our businesses that my wife runs... Oh, and the CT charges mostly on solar, so it's cheap too!
