The single reason why I'm not that distraught about getting the AWD over the Cyberbeast is the default drive axle that powers the truck:

AWD is Rear
Cyberbeast is Front

So when driving or not accelerating very aggressively, the AWD is a RWD, while the Cyberbeast is a FWD.

Full disclosure: I had originally ordered the tri-motor, but changed it to AWD to get it sooner. Since I've had mine since the end of February, I can't complain!
I was thinking about this the other day while trying to Cybertruck sized winter tires (couldn't find any). I was brought up thinking that RWD is better for towing and FWD is better for snow. Since both the Beast and AWD have propulsion in the front and rear while any "heavier" input is made (unsure of when that change over happens), it's probably moot, but I wonder if at cruising speeds in slippery situations (highway winter driving) the Beast is more stable and less prone to fishtailing since it's FWD at cruise conditions. Again, it probably doesn't really matter since Tesla traction control kicks in so quickly, but it's an interesting thought experience.

In one of Kyle's Out of Spec most recent videos, he speaks at some length about having the Beast FWD and feeling some more roughness on potholes or light bumps. I haven't felt that in my Beast, but I'm not really the most vehicle feel sensitive driver. I have noticed some acceleration hesitation from a stop while driving over washboard dirt roads, and attribute it to traction control freaking out while under acceleration. Not sure if that would be different in an AWD configuration.

I just received my configuration notice. I am going cyberbeast. Any thoughts on all terrain vs all season? I live in NY so I do deal with snow in the winter. Off roading will be a rare occurrence but would be nice to try. Majority of time will be local town and highway.
I ordered my CB with the AS tires and Core wheels, I also chose the gray interior (Virginia red clay does NOT play well with white!). After some reflection, I went back and edited my order to AT tires and Cyber wheels. I hope we do get the newly designed wheel covers at some point.

This change had no effect on the estimated delivery time frame of OCT-DEC

We are talking about the same thing then.

Put another way, I don't think that the Cybertruck will be # 1 in truck market share, though it will very easily be the # 1 EV truck this year alone.

250K would 100% eat into others and Ford/GM better start producing more EV trucks or else they will continue to lose market share and then eventually would need to get bailed out.

Most folks don't realize this but GM/Ford/Toyota and many legacy automakers are completely and utterly facked.
Tesla has stated (and continues to state) that the end goal is 250k a year, with the current ramp on track for a run rate of 125k per year by the end of 2024.

Got it. Ya F150 is a beast of sales. It would be many years out if ever that it beats the F150 series.
Change can happen faster than you think. The most vivid example was around 2007-2009, when gas went to $4/gallon. Literally overnight, almost all Ford Expeditions stopped being driven. They went from being everywhere to nowhere. I can only assume they exported most of them to other countries.

Nokia was the king of cell phones as well, BTW...

Not saying that will happen to the same extent with the Cybertruck, just that, if there's a more economically way, change happens as fast as it physically possible. A LOT of F-150s are commercial use. And trust me, they care about money WAY more than style!

TOTALLY AGREE! Was just pointing it out. Also, like I said, if I could have gotten a beast back in February, I would have (I have a Model S Plaid, so you KNOW I want speed). My point was more, now that I have the AWD, I doubt I'll upgrade to the beast (not that Tesla will let me right now).

In the Out of Spec Rustic Ring video, Kyle showed what it took to get all 4 wheels to spin/engage on a dirt, uphill road (vs. just the fronts). I was surprised it took as much "heavy" throttle application as it seemed. This was prior to the first software release though, and before locking diffs, so it might have changed already...

Oh ya I agree. If Tesla gets costs down to where it’s financially better to buy the CT vs F150, it will happen. They probably need another line in Texas, for numbers… but the model Y is a perfect example of proving doubters wrong

When did you first place the order?

While you have raised several interesting and valid points, and almost convinced me to not get the Beast, the fact of the matter is that $20K price difference is more than made up when it comes time to sell the Cybertruck.

Here are few other points you missed, other than just going "fast":
1) Beast is more rare
2) Beast will have way better resale value
3) It will be far easier and quicker to sell the Beast
4) Exclusivity
5) If you could have only one vehicle, the Beast would fit the bill just fine. Rather than a sports car & a regular Cybertruck, it is more economical to just combine the two and get one

To you, owning a "faster" Cybertruck might be a sign of ego or insecurity, but for me, it is the ultimate symbol of what I have overcome and accomplished.
My argument is about the functional comparison of the two as trucks, as tools. The resale value or the owners accomplishment is contributing nothing to this argument.

I’ve seen a bunch of reasons why AWD owners didn’t want the Beast but I’ve also read of a few AWD owners that regret not getting the Beast. Any Beast owners regret not getting the AWD model?

So I’ve got a cyberbeast on order and I should be getting it early next year. I never really considered the all-wheel-drive model. But I thought I’d ask people here the following question: Can you think of any reason to choose the AWD over the Cyberbeast besides that it supposedly gets 20 miles more range?
It was easy for me: I pretty always drive with my kids, so the insane acceleration isn't something I'll really use. Also, I have a whole home generator and Powershare has no benefit to me whatsoever, so it just made sense. 4 years ago when I placed my order I ordered the beast but there is pretty much no benefit to me today.

Ok so here is my opinion…………. I am an owner of both a CT and CB. I love both and both have been excellent vehicles so far. I use the CT for work and the CB for “pleasure”. The CT is probably fine for most people. Fun. Plenty of power. Same interior and exterior features. Then you have the CB which is extremely fast. Exhilarating. But I find myself basically driving them the same way. I mean if you are going out driving everyday looking for a “Race”(which I don’t ) then the CB is your choice. The CT will basically beat most cars out there now in acceleration. The CB will definitely beat 99% of the cars out there. But where I live (outside of Philadelphia), there are very few places to really use the raw power of the CB. Yes its fun but the CT is also fun. The way I look at it, if there was only the CT AWD I would be very happy with the performance. Its all in what you want. If you are looking at resale value, and having the fastest then the CB is the choice. But I am not worried about resale and being the fastest doesn’t really matter to me. I’ll take out the Demon 170 if I wanna be the fastest thing out there. I honestly think just owning either is a fantastic experience.
