CarPlay support could come to Teslas as soon as the end of this year, according to a new report from Bloomberg.
The report says that Tesla is testing CarPlay support internally. Tesla has “discussed a rollout of CarPlay in the coming months, but a plan hasn’t been finalized and a release could come later,” Bloomberg explains.
Tesla is said to be testing the standard version of CarPlay, not the more advanced CarPlay Ultra. Its implementation of CarPlay will reportedly showcase CarPlay as a separate window inside the typical Tesla software interface.
The two interfaces will coexist rather than CarPlay take over the entire experience like it does in some other cars.
I am perfectly happy with CarPlay being a separate app, where the CarPlay programs run within that particular window. However, I will learn to live without it, running WAZE on my phone simultaneously and next to my Tesla navigation.

Honestly, I think if FSD v14 is able to achieve level 3 and let us go on our phones, CarPlay won't be as useful then.

But, I'd rather have the feature then not so props to Tesla team for listening to the community.

Personally, i want this for better Apple Music and siri integration… the current version of apple music app in Tesla is frustrating to use. You cant sort your library by artist or title, it automatically loads them by the order they were added to the library…
I created multiple playlists and use the Tesla UI to play Apple Music. I go to library and playlists and the playlist are in the order that I put them in on an apple product. And I’ve tested this over and over I’ll add music to a playlist re-order it on my phone and when I turn on my CT, the order represents what I just saved on my phone.

For many including myself before I got my CT, I thought I couldn’t live without CarPlay. However, Tesla has built their UI flawlessly. I don’t miss CarPlay so much now. With that said though, I wouldn’t mind still having it as an option. Even though, they say it’s not going to be CarPlay Ultimate, which I’m fine with. I just don‘t want it to be an outdated version of CarPlay.

Wouldn't it use Bluetooth?
carplay requires more: wire or wireless with a mix of wifi and bluetooth (lots of info going back and forth)

This seems more like something to sell people on that don't own a Tesla. When someone is car shopping they probably check if the vehicle has Carplay. Since they are used to using it. Tesla doesn't have so maybe they think that would be an inconvenience.

Yeah, a lot of people live in their own little bubble and are not willing to open their minds.

I get why some people think they want CarPlay but, IMO, once you own and use a Tesla you realize there's no need for CarPlay. The only benefit I can see is using Messages to reply to group texts. I don't miss CarPlay at all.
We have had a couple Teslas. I’d like CarPlay to play music stored on my phone (music I actually own and cannot disappear overnight from a streaming service, and which gives the artist more money). The BT media player is very poor on Teslas.

Also Apple Maps and Waze has ETA sharing which I don’t believe Tesla has (admittedly I haven’t checked).

Most of the people who are in the "I wont buy a car w/o Carplay, including a Tesla" haven't driven a car with a decent native system. You just don't know until you've experienced what good is.

One thing that would be useful is siri shortcuts. I still use my phone to unlock my door as im pulling in. I don't have a garage but there are quite a few homekit/automation enabled garage door openers out there as well.

Even with carplay added I doubt itll be as seem less and easy as running a shortcut from my phone.

CarPlay was the system my old Bolt EV used and I hated it. Zero fucks given if Tesla adopts this or not. I’m probably not going to use it.

How would someone use Waze with FSD? The truck will still follow the built in navigation. I guess you can just look at it?
