Epic Fail! - Cyberbeast - Tires shot at 6251 miles!!!

My tires don’t look like that after 10,000 miles… Looks like you’ve been hammering on that Cyber beast day in and day out!

and for reference my wife’s model three went through it set of tires after 10,000 miles and I know for a fact she drives like a grandma because every time I drive with her, I’m wondering how the hell she drives so slow.

Tire changes are like oil changes on Teslas, you’re gonna have to learn to drive it slower, or be prepared to pay the piper.

Do you have cyberbeast or cybertruck? I have been driving this like I drive all my other vehicles.

The unstrung mass per wheel on the Beast is very pronounced; no matter what tire you buy,wear will be more dramatic-particularly if it’s punched regularly. I don’t think you have defective tires,all performance Teslas are hard on tires. I am at 9k on the MYP and will need replacements soon.

I guess I was not aware of this coming from performance ICEs... dang it.

Torque is your main threat for tires. Very gentle accelerator pressure when stopped will help extend the life of your tires. The weight of the vehicle shouldn’t be an issue for a tire that is made for that weight. I cannot speak for the GY tires that come with the CT for longevity but it is a factory installed tire and those are notorious for not having long life. I would get a known truck tire for a weighty truck. The aforementioned Mickey Thompsons are good and my personal favorites are BFG KO3s. Get ones that have a 50k mile warranty as that can help for when they only last 20k and can get you prorated mileage pricing. I did that for years on my RAM 3500 dually because it burned through tires due to the Cummins torque and I switched them up at every 18-20k miles. After getting a nice tire, watch that torque. My old Big O tire dealer told me watch the accelerator and towing. Be as easy as you can on that accelerator. The CT has a lot more torque than you think and sometimes you may not notice.

So... buy the Cyberbeast ... but drive it like a Fiat Punto? ... I am getting "S" rated 50K warranty tires. Apparently there are no "H" rated tires that have any kind of warranty. I will keep this set to use for drag racing I guess. . Use the other set as my daily driver.

I am no expert on tires, and most certainly not an expert on Teslas. I have owned a number of performance cars tho (none as quick as the CB tho), and I hang out with other folks in the performance car wold when I am able. Maybe I am missing something here, but those wear numbers seem nominal or better than I would have expected. Vehicles that put down a lot of power use tires, even when there is no wheel spin or aggressive cornering.

I was expecting lower mileage compared to other tires... but this is crazy for tires to be almost gone before first rotation.

There's your problem, driving off road tires on road. Should have gotten the AS tires with core wheels if you're going to drive on streets and highways.

Even now.. if you try to order the Cyberbeast, you can ONLY get it with AT and not AS tires. When I ordered it in Feb AT was the only option available. AS is only available on AWD Cybertruck while ordering. I think its the speed rating H which is needed for the Cyberbeast that is not available (maybe was not available) before in AS LT tires.

How many miles do your tires last?

I’ve had some die at about 6k. Others lasted until about 12k but on average maybe 7k-9k. Having said that, i buy the ultra high performance all seasons and they are as a class a softer tread compound but for me traction and safety rule over all other concerns including price, tread life, or noise.

I also drive up and down mountain roads nearly every day so the tires get more stress than they might with more typical, calmer driving.

At delivery, besides getting wrapped, tinted and coated I drove Blitzen straight away to Discount Tire and bought the warranty for those Goodyear tires. I put the pressure back on the tire manufacturer. And they recommend rotation, free, at 5,000 miles which I will adhere to.

Seems insane Goodyear wouldn’t stand by its tires independent of Tesla. I really hope that was a one off - the truck has been great so far but that made no sense to me. I’m a highway driver mostly speed limit plus 5-7mph. Nothing crazy

Well if one buys the certificates from discount tire. They do not come with a warranty for mileage. They are a road hazard replacement certificate, and also do not cover vandalism. So the word warranty sounds like it's interchangeable at discount tire and that is not correct. They do not provide a warranty. So going to this site here and you can read about what the differences are. Also, once you go below 3/32 the certificate is no longer usable.

Getting certificates for a ko3 replacement tire from BF Goodrich makes sense in my mind because it's a 50,000 mile warranty for the tire where on an OEM tire you'll never get that type of mileage because they're notoriously under treaded.

MY CyberBeast Tires lasted to around 8k miles also then i replaced them myself. The Cyberbeast is just like the plaid it loves tires.. my AWD Cybertruck has 10k miles and tires are down to 7/10 from 10/10. like ive been saying owning a Cyberbeast cost alot more then AWD , insurance,Less Range, Tires

No tire manufacturer that I'm aware of provides a warranty on OE tires. Michelin used to, but they changed that several years ago.

It's possible there's an alignment issue, out of spec toe will wear tires abnormally fast. More than likely however, it's the driver in a heavy vehicle with instant torque. Switch to a tire with a tread wear warranty and rotate them as required. You still likely won't get anywhere near the mileage without drastically changing your driving habits, but you'll at least get a credit when you change them.

Ease up on the acceleration and slow down in the corners, unless you like buying tires.
