This has been a known issue for many years on many models. My 3 limps on charging as it has a partial PCS failure. S had a failure. Other than the battery, this(PCS) and the charge port take quite a bit of use. Shame Tesla can't figure something like this.
For example my S has had 4118 charging sessions in its life. I have had two chargeport doors replaced. 1 Chargeport, and a PCS. If one thinks about cycles and usage that is piss poor. I could do the work on data for the other cars. Tesla's PCS's suck for the most part.
People whine and complain, yet Tesla did nothing on the 3 and Y for these. Outside of the battery, and outside of the motor. So no coverage post basic warrenty. Sure some might give a handy to the service manager to cover it. Yet if Tesla handles the PCS like they do for other cars it will not be covered.
