One would hope so.

Remember revision doesn't always mean an improvement to the end result of worthiness as we as consumers would expect it to be. Sometimes a revision is a cost saving measure and possibly cheapening of components.

I do recall many here saying how the MSRP can go down over time via cost saving measures. 😆

It is a crap show at best lately.
Well, that's reassuring..... :ROFLMAO:

On my app, where I used to set it to 48A or below, it now only lets me set it to 24A or below. I am hoping it's the truck and not the Universal Charger that is having a problem.
Could test at a J1772 AC charger if there is one local. Or mobile connector with 14-50 adapter (32A).

Tesla service is horrible in my area. Evertime they "fix" something its either not done right or they screw somthing else up in the process.
Corrected 😁

I have the same experience; service visits often aren't done right or they create another issue.

May this never happen to you. I have 138 miles to last me until my service center appt on Monday. Even though Grok says I can usually charge at Superchargers, I just tried and I cannot. It says supercharger failure but I tried a different one and got the same message.

My home charging ended early and threw up a message “AC charging unavailable”. Service center appt required. I made the appt but the earliest is Monday. Nothing unusual about my home charging or state of charge being too low or too high.

I have 51,000 miles. I’m out of standard warranty so hopefully this will be considered part of battery drivetrain warranty. Grok says it could go either way and if I have to pay it’s around $4k.

just went through the same thing at 10k miles. Took to service and it was repaired in 2 days. Gave me a Model X Plaid with FSD as a loaner. I’m not happy the PCS failed but pleased that the repair process was so smooth.

Also could check in service mode for errors/ alerts.

Controls->software long press "Cybertruck"

Hey Dustin,
less that 2 weeks after you posted this message, I just got the same failure (AC Charge unavailable). I checked and supercharging, at Brea Mall, is also unavailable. Is it a Brea thing...j/k. Good to hear that Tesla covered the repair for free even though you are out of warrantee. My beast is under warrantee so it should be a matter of bringing in to have it repaired. I submitted a service request, I have 34% charge remaining in battery, Century mode is off, it's Sunday and I'm hopping that I can get my truck to the Anaheim Tesla Service center before it dies. Wish me luck.

[Update]
Dropped my truck off at the Tesla Service Center in Anaheim Hill Ca, they said that it might take up to 2 weeks the get the parts (CPS is on backorder), I told them to keep my truck as long as they want due to them loaning me an AWD Cybertruck with free supercharging.
This is my first time driving the AWD Cybertruck and there is more difference in acceleration power than I anticipated. I thought that the acceleration in AWD and the Beast were going to feel about the same but every time I press the accelerator, I think, "where's the rest of the power". Don't get me wrong, I love the Cybertruck AWD or Beast, it's just not what I was expecting judging from everybody's reporting of the acceleration differences and yes I did double check that the AWD was in sports mode.

Possible PCS failure, here. 2024 FS truck. I was plugged in to an 11 kW L2 charging station when I saw the truck drop amps to 24 from 48. I thought the station had derated the session, finished charging and went home. My home charger is 40A; plugged in and truck limits charging to 24A. Googled the issue and here I am. Service scheduled for 02/05/26, and when I booked the appt, the Tesla AI said my charger door was the problem, but I booked it anyway. Tesla came back with the repair estimate of $0.00.

Hate this kind of stuff but it happens and I'm under warranty (16k mi).

OP did you have any PCS-adjacent symptoms or prior incidents before this charge failure?
I’m at 49,3xx, recently had a power failure on the freeway that is making me nervous with your current quandary and price tag. My SC said it was just a voltage-low situation (I was approaching a Supercharger at 2%), not a PCS failing. I’m skeptical, have done that same approach to supercharge at low SOC countless times.

I just had this happen to me. My service
UPDATE:

I had a conversation with the site manager of tesla Anaheim last night. He said they cannot cover it because I’m out of warranty. He’s truly sorry. I pick up the truck today at 5 o’clock. I will have to pay the $6400.

As someone suggested, I made a tweet to escalate my issue. I would appreciate it if anyone here would comment on it for extra visibility.

Hi Dustin,
So I just dropped off my CT at Buena Park Tesla for the PSC replacement today. My CT has 56,000 miles. Just like you, my advisor first sounded like it would be covered under warranty but then I got a quote for about $3700. After letting them know how upset and disappointed I was, the service manager did give me a discount. But I think all the CT owners need to take their trucks in and have it replaced even if its not broken yet. Because it will. It's just a matter of will you be lucky enough for the part to break while its under warranty or not. And if the advisor says that he can't replace it, I would ask him to put it in writing that you don't have to pay to replace it if it goes out later. This is not a wear and tear part. It should last the lifetime of the car. The fact that Tesla knows about this problem but won't make it right with their customers is really disappointing.
This should be a recall issue. That's why I urge everyone to go to your dealers and demand that you get a new PCS module. I think if enough customers go in with the same issue, the manufacturer has to post a recall.
Also, some of you asked if there were signs of this before... my CT was charging at 24 amps instead of 48 for a couple of days before it stopped charging all together. So, yeah, take your car in and request that the PCS be replaced. For sure it will not go easy. Be prepared to put up an argument. Our only chance in winning this thing is strength in numbers, unity, and social media.

I wonder if theres a way to "forcefully" push for PCS failure, there has to be a common reason for failure?

Would be nice to get that replaced before warranty goes out..

What would it take to get the government involved? Seems like this is a widespread issue affecting a lot of products. Or a class-action lawsuit? I don't know. Seems like it should be a recall issue at this point.

But is there a better PCS in existence? Or is it just going to be replaced with a new, faulty part that will still go out again?

The PCS DCAC failure only impacts charging, so it is not a safety or regulatory issues that would prompt a NHTSA level recall campaign.

Thats like a car you cant put gas in they have to do somthing
True. I hope Tesla does the right thing before a class starts forming. See what happened to the Toyota Sienna around 2000 where a class action formed because of a defect that caused oil sludge in the engine. NHTSA wouldn’t touch it because it didn’t affect safety, but Toyota ended up doing a voluntary recall. Ask Grok about it.
