I spent an entire day building this. Attached to the truck using the 8 crossbar mounting points. I can remove the eight screws and remove the entire structure with my wife on the other side. Or I can remove 4 more screws and remove the front section separately from the rear section. Will start covering it with corrugated plastic sheets tonight.

Hopefully can get a range test with an Airstream Basecamp or Bambi later in the week if I can find a rental in SLC. Will test the same out and back with and without the wind deflector. I don't know if the drag behind the deflector will be worse than the drag from just the trailer. We will see....

I pull our Airstream Basecamp 20 behind our 2024 FS AWD and it rides like a dream. I'm still getting used to the SOC calculations. It is very conservative at the beginning of a trip but as I travel it can add 20-30% to the SOC over the trip. I think this is mainly due to me keeping the speed at right around 60 MPH.

Yes, the CT does have a PPF wrap on it so it looks different as you move in the sunlight.

We did plug the Basecamp 20 into the CT but were not able to run the AC. I think a softstart might do the trick. With a StarLink & the trailer plugged in it only consumed about 3-4% over a 24 hr period. Local Superchargers took care of that every few days.

I'll work on a spreadsheet on miles and charging and usage and post it.

IAM VERY INTERESTED IN THE RESULTS OF YOUR TEST. When I attended the International Airstream Meetup in York PA this summer there were 3 CT's pulling Airstreams. The other two were pulling the standard Airstreams in the 25-30' size. There energy consumption was not that much different than mine.

Saw this Bronco Raptor and it got me wondering - has anyone tried towing a Cybertruck with a smaller diesel RV and charge it to full with regen? Then once it’s juiced up, switch and let the Cybertruck tow the diesel RV instead? 😂

I am towing a 2025 Casita Independence and use the CT as shorepower when needed, since my setup works with full AC, and not too disimilar from your Basecamp 2.0, I asked Grok to configure, here's his/its comment:

"Yes, powering your Airstream Basecamp 2.0's air conditioning (typically a 13,500 BTU unit drawing ~1,500–1,800W continuous after startup surge) from the Cybertruck's bed outlets is feasible, as the truck's power system can deliver up to ~9.6 kW total across all outlets (combined 40A limit for 120V/240V bed and cabin ports). The Basecamp has a 30-amp shore power inlet (NEMA TT-30), while the Cybertruck bed features two 120V/20A NEMA 5-20 outlets and one 240V/40A NEMA 14-50 outlet. To bridge this, you'll need a NEMA 14-50 to TT-30 adapter (often called a "dogbone")—no extension cord is strictly necessary if the trailer is parked close to the truck, but a short, heavy-duty one is recommended for flexibility and safety.

The best option is the Camco PowerGrip 30-Amp RV Power Defender Dogbone Adapter (NEMA 14-50P Male to TT-30R Female), priced at ~$25–$35. It's weatherproof, surge-protected (up to 1,800 joules), and designed for RV use, ensuring stable power delivery without voltage drop for your AC unit."

You may already be aware of all this, but if not hope this helps.

Can our trucks actually be recharged from regen by towing them if they are dead?

I assume by "dead" you mean low battery in the HV pack, not 0% in both batteries. Yes, but you would want someone in the CT to monitor just to be sure it doesnt over heat. You cannot tow any Tesla while its off per the manual. You can pull them when they are on, simulating a downhill.

I once Towed my F150 Lightning when the HV battery hit 0%, it slowly charged back up.

Someone did this with a Tesla before.

OP please post the results of your test, I am anxiously awaiting the patent for the CT aero to turn into a real tesla store product as I tow a 30ft rockwood that is already not very aero friendly.

Thanks for your post. What range are you getting at 60mph? Did you put road tires on the Basecamp and get rid of the super knobby mud tires they come with?
