How often do you use FSD with your Cybertruck?

I use it on every drive. I laid it up on May 1st as I have others to drive. I miss it. I rather enjoyed just sitting there, looking around and eating cheezies. I found it very reliable, making maybe one small error in a whole day. And that's with lots of city driving.

In my opinion the Cybertruck is Truck 3.0. That is where 1.0 would be the old "manual tranny, no ac, AM radio only" configuration that held up to about the mid 1960s. Then we have "auto trans, air conditioned, great stereo, two seat" trucks. Those are 2.0. A big part of 3.0 is that it drives itself. It's a non-trivial learning curve for the human to go to 3.0, that really does mean learning to not take over from the Truck's AI.

Watching the last two years of development of the FSD in both a Model 3 and the CT has parallels in watching and understanding the development of large language model style AI (LLMs such as Grok and ChatGPT). These are linked closely.

When the call went out to damage, vandalize and disfigure Teslas (from yet to be named left wing organizers) I saw Tesla's stock price drop to $232. I recall thinking "Oh. You guys want to play?"

... and then, bought 1000 shares of Tsla. An intentional short term stock play. I do intend to sell these shares, as opposed to my normal long term holding preferences ... just to prove a point.

I will have acquired a Cybertruck, Truck 3.0 ... for free.

I used FSD much more in my M3 in 2023 than my CT in the last six months. Maybe I'm an outlier, but the experience is far worse than what I was accustomed to and it is one of the biggest issues with the CT. I'm not sure if the current FSD version is a step back, or if the CT just isn't where the M3 is in terms of FSD capabilities, but it is noticeable.
This used to be the case. But i think now they are on par - infact Model 3 has a bit of regression now when handling flashing yellow.

The main issue with CT was it was too close to the curb when turning - but that has been more or less fixed now.

The speed issues affect all Tesla vehicles in 13.x/12.x after E2E was implemented ....

For your number 1. Depress the GO pedal (accelerator) and your truck will make its move forward without delay.
This is also the #1 way to get a red strike - exceed the "max speed" set by even 1 mph, and the robot AI gets pissed off. It is easy to exceed this speed with the great acceleration of the CT.

I also bought Tesla shares. Not a thousand. Ha. But 50. Once Elon gets back to work, they will certainly recover.

??? Is this only for those people in the beta program? I've never seen any strikes or scores or any of the stuff that early-adopters would talk about on the internet.

Use it here and there, but not usually. Its not assertive enough to slow down and take off quickly like a normal driver would at stop signs for example. It also rides over the left line in particular, starts signaling then doesn't actually change lanes, etc. Its drifted out of its lanes erratically in a turnabout or misses on/off ramps when there's construction, it doesnt have the logic to adapt. Not dogging on it, its impressive & useful, but its most certainly not good enough for me to use it all the time. I expect it will be someday.

EDIT: Oh, and going under the speed limit, especially when I have it set to a max thats well over the speed limit is verry irritating, especially when there are other drivers behind me.

I do love having it anyway! I'm noting issues, but most the time its pretty good. I wouldnt pay for it yet though. Just enjoying the trial for now. Sounds like the CT FSD is a generation behind the 3 & Y capabilities from what I've heard from people who own both.

Yeah, a thousand was a big gamble. But as you note, it would seem the values will "certainly recover". The circumstances - organized political shadow operations attempting to influence stock price - are rather novel. So, I am directly, purposefully betting they will fail in their efforts.

FSD was an amazing surprise as I started with VS 13.2.8 in my CT as my first experience with it. I use it almost exclusively for getting around! But what has been your experience? Trust it? Enjoy it? Nervous with it?
Although FSD had improved dramatically, and I now use it as much as possible when on road trips, even on highways it still makes egregious mistakes once in a while. On non-highway roads the percentage goes up to the point where it remains stressful for me to use it - so I rarely do. I am looking for improved situational awareness, recognition and adherence to yellow/black and orange/black warning signs, pulling over for first responders, doing the right thing with flagmen, doing the right thing with impaired drivers, etc. I very much look forward to seeing these improvements.

I do not know how long it would/will take me to trust unsupervised FSD but supervised would be fine with me.

One thing most drivers likely have not thought of is that a self driving car, with sensors all around, will see dangers from the sides and the back before we humans do. Like many predator animals our eyes are set forward. The Cybertruck cameras give it abilities similar to a deer, it can see all around naturally. The difference in response times would be very significant.

I use it exclusively but I typically have to take over 2-3 times for every drive due to the below reasons...

1. I need to in order to prevent pissing people off and getting honked at. It is extremely slow to turn into traffic with the highway I live on. Both turning off of or on to. Sometimes there isn't a car for 3-400 yards. Doesn't happen at all points on the same highway either.

2. It just fails to recognize green lights sometimes.

3. Road construction. A rather large road construction project has eliminated 3 medians that allow u turns... It still tries to slow down and take these even though it recognizes the cones. I end up taking over as it will slow down to 5 mph in a 45-50mph left lane.

4. Outdated or incorrect maps - There is a coffee shop i'll go to that incorrectly has its location set as the physical address of a completely different business in the same shopping center. The real address is non existent. I have to use a business near it and take over. Also, for some reason, the trip route has changed in the past month and no longer uses a direct route... it makes me skip the normal light and u-turn at the next one... Another local mentioned the same problem. No idea why.
To address problem 1 above I put it in “hurry mode” if I will be on a one lane road where I’m concerned about holding others up and I give the accelerator a quick stomp when I want it to come out of a light or begin merging onto the highway. It stays in FSD and sometimes seems to get the hint that I meant it when I said hurry.
