Has anyone with an AWD Model had the squeaking/chirping noise from the front motor/inverter fixed?

This is the only issue I have with my truck and its has been getting progressively worse. I've had the truck since June '24. It only happens between 15-40 mph (audio/video attached). The sound in the video file doesn't do justice to how loud the noise actually is. Its loud, and can be heard over music at a decent level.

My 24 has always made this sound. I assumed it was to alert surrounding persons that an EV was in the area. They don’t was EV’s to sneak up on anyone

I have that noise in that same speed range and this one too: ā€œMine has a metallic hiss like a bad bearing when cruising at ~45mph.ā€ I have taken it to 2 SCs and two different service managers have told me that they are normal sounds. I’ve had two CBs as loaners and they don’t make the same noises, but they have a totally different motor setup than the AWD. They drove me in a new AWD (wouldn’t let me drive it) and it made similar sounds, but not as loud. I’ve just given up on it and pseudo-accepted it’s normal and I’m just not used to EV noises. Although, my wife’s juniper is dead silent. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

My beast has always whined around 40mph with light thrittle. I thought it was the forward inverter. Not a big deal but noticeable with no music. It sure doesn’t have that ridiculous beeping noise!

I have a 25 AWD and do not have that noise.

Gear whine? We don’t have a transmission
You do have a gear case, front and back. Transfers the power from motor to the axles (half-shafts), reduces gearing, converts fore/aft motor thrust to lateral. And it is the noise we hear from the front, at least on AWD CTs. February 2025 build in my case.

Supposedly just a wheel hub with a newer revision 1250171-00-D, just got the completed notification but the SC closed 45min ago. I don’t buy it and have no faith in this SC since they can’t seem to read my main concern of no mobile charging. Either my mobile charge failed or the trucks board. I can charge on my wall connector and supercharge stated in the my notes. Their finding notes state it an issue with customers home charger. OMG 🤬

I took delivery of my AWD one month before you (May 24) and immediately noticed this same sound. The SC said it was the inverter and was normal. Sometime in 2025 I had my CT in service for 4 days and they gave me a CT loaner and I realized that it also had the noise but was much quieter than mine... anyway, I have made peace with it and don't plan to pursue any further action on this since I have not really had any issues with my truck, other than the recall items (sails, cantrails, loose panel, etc.). Knock on wood.

I've got a similar sound at those speeds but it is much more noticeable at slower speeds. Tesla service tech had no idea. I decided to leave it alone until something fails. It should be covered under the motor/battery warranty.

My truck is VIN 00598, and it was built in February 24. It makes this exact sound and I brought it to the attention of the service center, they say it is normal...

They call it a motor flutter sound....

I had the chance to drive a truck in the 61k VIN range, and it no sound at all, cabin was much quieter than mine, motors completely quiet aside from the region sound. No motor flutter detected...

Tesla will not do anything about it.

If anyone has gotten Tesla to resolve this motor fluttering sound, let us know so that we can back up our claims with your resolution...

Has anyone noticed the drive unit noises being louder in cold weather? My CT (a 25 AWD) makes what I think are louder-than-normal noises already, despite what the SC says. But this morning it was 37 degrees, and it was noticeably louder. Normally, if I have the radio on, it drowns it out, but today I could hear it over the radio. I thought maybe it was trying to warm the battery, but 30 min of highway driving later, it was still pretty loud. About 2 hours later, it seemed to be back to the normal noise level. I tried to get some video, but the phone just doesn't capture the sounds well. If you know what to listen for, you can hear it, but it picks up the road noise more for some reason. It's the sound that sounds like a fan, but it's not. I had the heating/cooling system turned off. It sounds like a grinding, like a bad bearing. It's much more pronounced in person.

Sounds similar. My CT is loudest when ambient temps are cold and the motor is cold. When the motor warms up, it gets quieter. Didn’t make the noise when accelerating initially, but it’s starting to make noise also when accelerating. Mostly makes noise when cruising or regen.

Have my 4th visit scheduled and already requested a buyback if they can’t correct the issue. Also brining it in for a delaminating driver’s side rear quarter panel.

Listen for the sound when going 45mph; ~10sec into the video

Ya, mine ā€œchirpsā€ sometimes too. Not a high pitched chirp, although it does that at low speeds, but the grinding noise will sometimes be intermittently louder. I’ve driven it with two service managers at two different SCs and they both said it’s not ā€œabnormal.ā€ But I’ve driven loaners that don’t make nearly as much noise.

I think this is a normal sound. Sound travels much easier through cold air.

I have heard this with my truck and other electric motors.

I think this is a fairly normal gear backlash sound. Its easier to notice when I hold a certain 'throttle' position.
