I'm really tempted to switch to these - have you noticed any efficiency differences though? Seem like they'd cause a lot more drag, and weight more.

I forgot to rotate my pirelli’s until around 19k to where Tesla and other shops wouldn’t rotate due to 1 of the tires at 3/33, the others were 4 and 5. I waited until 23k miles to get as much as I could out of them. And while squeezing the last few miles out of them I did hours and hours of research and price shopping to find the Michelin Defender Platinums were the best bang for the buck for AS tires.

Costco has them for about $1900 installed after the $80 discount.

I’ve had them on my truck for about 1k miles over the last couple of weeks and absolutely love them. Quiet, nice aggressive sidewall and a 70k mile warranty on them.

With 70k warranty, I wonder if we can complain when it’s dead at 35k.

Seems like an alignment issue, as others have said. I replaced the stock AT tires on my AWD at 24,545 with 7/32nds on them. Needed better tires for water and snow, stock AT tires are dangerously horrible if it is not dry.

I’ll check the truck in the morning to see where I’m at for wh/m. Two weekends ago I drove out to Vandenburg about a 500 mile round trip and used FSD Hurry the entire trip and had about 388 wh/m but I’ll have to double check that number.

I asked grok and it’s reported a 8-12% range loss. I’m not seeing that in my day to day driving but I’m also not paying too close attention either.

exactly and what we all should know, there are tradeoffs

Michelins are for long use, long life treadwear, not efficiency
the Scorpion's are for efficiency, not long treadwear

you pick based on your driving pattern/behavior local or long distance

The stock AT (Goodyear AT Territory) are pretty good on wet pavement, as long as there isn't standing water. They don't have much capability in terms of water evacuation, but their grip on wet pavement is pretty good as long as it's 40 degrees or warmer. The Goodyear Duratrac are great in standing water but have less grip on wet pavement (compared to the Territory).

Yeah, wet is fine, standing water is a nightmare.

26k miles on my Goodyear territory’s and did an x rotation today just for sheets and giggles using my spare kit tire. All four tires were close in tread wear maybe the fronts alittle more worn than the back and the inside of the fronts slightly. Honestly almost felt it was so minimal and being that they are almost worn out to the indicators it wasn’t worth it but now I have cybertruck swap experience and a good workout. I’m going to see if I make it to summer or fall and by then the tires will be done done. I wanted the same territory AT with the sidewall design for the aero covers but don’t want to deal with the fast tread wear or tire rack or some other slimy company for the OEMS. Tesla service doesn’t answer the phone so I have no idea what they have beside the duratrac on the website. I’m now leaning toward the Michelin, but I have a sneaky suspicion Tesla going to unveil something new in the spring. I’m staying tuned.

What base do you place your suspicion? Typically, Tesla maintains the tire selection of their models based on their original engineering data and use case. That doesn’t always portend to long life, and after owning 2 different models over the last 5 years, I will say that the OEM tires tend to wear more readily than alternative options. Despite may anecdotal cases, Tesla seems to stick with their stock tire options. Maybe it’s cost analysis, or manufacturer deals that keep them from switching, but I don’t see much variation in the choices of stock tires from production start to secondary or tertiary model years

I dunno maybe they don’t come out with something new in the spring, but before next winter I’d love a new set wrangler territory AT just like the ones came with the truck designed for the aero covers, and with some notes that tread wear issue is improved and a nice new date code. And while we’re at it let’s get a smoother quieter ride like the Michelins
