Great solution for a revised name! I hate the regulatory nonsense in CA, but they have a point. It should have been called SSD from the start- Supervised Self Driving, and not called FSD until full autonomy is achieved. just sayin…
Elon is amazing but his ego does get in the way sometimes.
Elon is a genius, accomplished in a way that no other human on earth can compare, but even a trillionaire genius would be even more amazing if he’d use the “Scotty Principle” when it comes to FSD.

We had a healthy discussion in another thread about this some time ago… I’m not surprised.

This is a double-edged sword..

this is basically asking/suggesting to the user to rely on the system because drowsiness has been detected.. where as in other wordings it clearly states you must always be alert and attentive..

But at least everyone knows all those things can cause cancer and birth defects. FSD probably can too, somehow.
CA’s policy of marking things as cancerous with prop. 65, was a huge mistake, because it’s easier for companies to just mark everything with “Maybe Cancerous “ instead of actually testing things and giving us useful warnings. That state(and others, an EU) put in so many regulations without thinking it through.
This is just bother thing that will backfire, all cars makes will make themselves as “CPBSDSD”(could be self driving someday) and customers will be screwed thinking it will have Tesla capabilities someday.

Also, on that note, Tesla is Full Self Driving, supervised or not, it drives itself, without out any inputs from the driver.

Tesla is not worried about the California order:

This was a “consumer protection” order about the use of the term “Autopilot” in a case where not one single customer came forward to say there’s a problem. Sales in California will continue uninterrupted.

That's.... not how it works. Prop 65 is ONLY for things KNOWN to the state of CA to cause cancer. It's not a "maybe" thing.

Tbh I'm all for it, this dumb "oh autopilot for planes doesn't mean it just can automatically pilot it, it's just a helper" to Full Self Driving for a system that does not Fully Drive Itself.

It was cute for "Not a Flamethrower", but has really ruined all chances for when it can actually drive itself since they've been crying wolf for a couple decades now.

I have never once left my "FSD" cybertruck to its own devices without being compelled to intervene. Again- if you don't feel the need to take over I'm glad it exists because it's better than 30% of drivers. Of which you're one.

It’ll be a losing battle convincing sane people of CA’s insanity, Scott. That warning is on seemingly everything. So it’s become a useless message that does nothing but remind the rest of the nation what a snowflake state it is.
I was just going to say the exact same thing. Its plastered on almost everything to the point it has lost all meaning and people just ignore it. Also, there is no fruit in Fruit of the loom, so add that to the list for CA to enforce.

Idk, to me y'all are the wild ones just being ok with companies slipping in things that are known to cause cancer and being ok with it. If something is killing me I do like to know, even if it doesn't stop me from doing/using it I can make an informed decision.

"Don't piss on my back and try to tell me it's rain"

It's like you want more leaded gasoline around. They knew it had severe negative effects but just paid off some scientists and ad agencies to make millions. How does this stuff not boil people's blood?

My garbage disposal went out a couple months ago and I ordered the same part number as a replacement. It had that warning on it. Somehow it didn’t make my blood boil knowing I had been living with that cancerous disposal under my kitchen sink for the last 6 years.

Really not looking to start an argument or belittle anyone’s views, but when that warning makes it on to a garbage disposal and literally every cleaning supply ever made, it gets a bit meaningless.

Is it meaningless to you because you've been exposed to those things for so long and haven't noticed a difference, or because so many current products are harmful it feels normal to you (complacency), or because there's no scale to it (like a 5 star rating of deadliness/disease) or is it just information overload?

I don't mean to pry but it does make me very curious when people say they just don't care about poisoning themselves, just so someone else can make more money.

It’s because it’s on everything. What do you clean your house with? What floor mats do you have in your truck? Own a TV? Do you use a bath towel after a shower? Ever buy your kids hot wheels cars? I guarantee that warning is on all those things.

" botanically speaking, nuts are a type of fruit"

so yes, there ARE fruit in your Fruit of the Loom.

I'll see myself out now....
Hahaha - Yes but they don't come from the factory with nuts - you have to aftermarket them. So the advertising is misleading. Someone might be under the false impression it comes with balls.

Is that why Rivian guys switched back to tighty whiteys?
