Cybertruck Battery Degradation after 11-months, 29,000-miles is still 0%

Got back from a 5,900mi road trip last night and took a peak at my battery health this morning.

My FS Cybertruck (VIN 16,795) has nearly 29,000 miles on the odometer after almost a year of ownership, and Tessie (the data app) is still tracking my high voltage pack at 100% original capacity. ? 123kWh.

The truck's nav shows 313mi of the factory 318mi EPA-rated range at 100% charge. Tessie agrees with 313mi at 100%. Thats somewhere between 0.0-1.5% degradation after almost a year. Wow!

The dip in the graph is from my winter tires. Apparently that messes with the calculations, but I'm using the OEM All-Terrains now.

Maybe the 4680 is better than expected, or perhaps this is an outlier?

Yea that is the problem and is what has some people suspicious. After 6mo or 15k miles SOME degradation is expected 2-10% for the extreme highs and lows. For so many of us to supposedly have 0% degradation after a year and 25k+ miles seems to deny chemistry and physics. So either there is some miracle that is going on.......or the reporting from the vehicle and some apps is not accurate.

Nothing is perfect. I would say Tesla's BMS is pretty darn close to it. We show about 1% loss charging to 50% and 0% when we charge to 80-90% for a couple days after over 30k in miles.

Second hand Tesla's are bargains right now for long term cost out of pocket on a price per Kwh. Sure might not have latest and greatest stuff, yet the battery is good for a good long time.

But the CT's are on a new battery series, right? Aren't these newer-tech batteries exepcted to be better than the old ones where you are getting your data from?

No most of the ones out now are not the dry cathode so pretty much the same

Yes, we have very little data on the new 4680 cell and its expected degradation.

After the last update I noticed a huge reduction in est range at 80% charge. I thought I took a picture but I can't find it it was like 243 instead of 254

My guess is they updated the range to reflect actual battery capacity. Previous capacity/range estimates seemed very high vs real world.

Depends. Did you mean CT batteries are new tech compared with other Teslas? That was my assumption, and if so I'm right. If you meant the latest CT's are using different tech than older CT's, then I guess he would be right?

The 4680 batteries are new for the CT (asside from a failed run with the Model Y for a brief period). Real world data on their longevity doesn't exist until we start getting info like what's in this thread.

Yes, This^^^

As far as I know, all CT's have the same, newer technology, 4680 cells. And previous data from any other Teslas besides CT's should not necessarily represent how the 4680 cells behave over time.
