I'm worried it's going to be something negative that impacts my order.... been on the fence for so long, finally pulled the trigger on Wednesday since I saw 2.49% was going away..

I swear if I sat on the fence about buying this thing for two years and it gets discontinued right when I order, I'm going to spite buy a Rivian.
It's not going away. A legit fear as we are coming up on 2 years is a price drop and/or battery improvement right after you get yours, as that's often happened at around this time in a Tesla product life. But you're going to get your truck.

Chances are that the F-150 Lightning will be discontinued before the Cybertruck. Tesla can eke out a profit even with low-selling vehicles; the Model S and Model X sell in even lower numbers than the Cybertruck, and there is no sign that they are in danger.

Ford, on the other hand, wants high volumes from its models, and the Lightning is not delivering. Ford releases monthly sales figures; they only sold 1,543 Lightnings in October 2025 and just 1,006 in November 2025.

Of course, that hasn't stopped some media outlets from predicting the imminent demise of the Cybertruck. There is nothing new in the linked story, but I'll give them credit for creative imagery:

I would 100% buy a Cybercasket.

Anyone that pisses me off. You imagine parking that badboy outside someone's house and saying nothing.
Gotta slap some underglow and those whipless whip lights the guy posted on that bad boy first. Maybe a smoke machine too. Start it remotely by turning on the ā€œvaultā€ plugs…or crypt plugs or whatever

We’ll have to see how it goes. Objectively, from a business standpoint, it wouldn’t be the worst idea anyone ever had to discontinue S/X/CT.

Selfishly I want CT around forever. My current truck won’t last me the rest of my life, so I need another one someday.

Elon said they needed a truck to fully solve sustainable energy, and I agree. CT is the greatest vehicle ever conceived, but it’s clearly not the answer Elon was looking for. There’s no denying that. CT isn’t making the slightest dent in F150/RAM/Silverado sales.

Maybe Tesla needs to cave and offer an inferior, more conventional truck? Idk, I’m glad I’m not the one making the decisions right now.

I personally think what Tesla needs business wise for the car game is a vehicle aimed squarely at rivian’s r1s. The r2 will have a tough time in the game against the y but the luxury suv piece of the market (not the minivan part which is the model x if we’re being honest) but the off-road capable 7 seater niche, is currently unanswered Wild West for Tesla. Likewise, they need a cargo van product.
Bezos may not buy it but someone else surely will.

I do think a seven seat CyberSUV, not in SS but Cybercab’s color infused body panels, would do really well. And yes, a cargo van like Rivian’s Amazonmobile - not just the Robovan. Those need to happen. Robotaxi/Cybercab will handle most needs, but there are plenty of people that need to move large amounts of people and cargo around. So far Tesla hasn’t prioritized that.

If they would lower the price I would get one.

So would everyone. It’s a superior truck in absolutely every way. It’s worth every penny they ask for it. Sadly, most people don’t think they can afford it. They have no idea about how much gas money they’ll save.

The case for EV over ICE is particularly strong when it comes to local delivery vans. Charge them at the yard overnight, the electricity costs less than gas or diesel, EVs are more efficient at stop and go driving, their range is sufficient for local deliveries, and maintenance costs are lower. What's not to like?

So far, Amazon has ordered 100,000 vans from Rivian, and Rivian is now taking orders from other companies too. For comparison, total global sales of the Cybertruck since launch in 2023 are in the 60,000-70,000 range. The Cybertruck may look a lot cooler than a Rivian van, and I'm sure that it accelerates faster, but the Rivian vans are probably more effective at taking sales away from ICE.
