Ordered my CT AWD on last day of tax incentives (Sep 30). Took deliver on Nov 5. Was pleasantly surprised to see the VIN coded as a 2026 model year. Grok says a few things have changed in the 2026.

Maybe supply chain issues with something new in the 2026 model is causing delays/shortages.

They are still building and delivering trucks to Elon companies that were ordered to take advantage of the tax rebate. There isn't going to be a change. Line changes would have been done between quarters. Batteries would just flow into production since the pack design wouldn't change. The other option is they are spinning up for robitaxi and b using the people from the Cybertruck line to assist.

Man, slightly more range and much improved charge curve, they'd get me to trade up. But really...it charges more than fast enough for road trips already...

I concur. Also add that they may be ramping the line down just because of how many people take vacations at the end of the year, and sales are likely projected to be slower anyway.

You don't need a new truck to upgrade charging. They are just starting to put in the new V4 chargers. The ones you see now are just V3 architecture with V4 charging posts. Once more are out you will notice a change.

Yeah, the 500kW is amazing! For the first 30 seconds. Then it's back to ~300kW up to 30%.

New cells could hold 300kW to 50 or 60%, would be a game changer. New charger saves, maybe a minute, of charging? New cells could save 10 or 20 minutes.

They will update the charging curve as they get more chargers and validation done. Cells will eventually be coming. But most likely to the Semi first.

I bid 45K to have a spare!
What kind of new truck can you buy for $45,000? Certainly not a full-sized electric truck with 2500 lb. payload capacity, 4-wheel steer by wire, a gleaming dent and scratch resistant body, best-in class safety and driving dynamics and 350 miles of range! I ask because your comment seems disconnected from reality.

The RWD was a really good truck, but Tesla messed up royally by not including the game-changing electric tonneau cover that disappears with the touch of a button. Even cash-strapped buyers would pay for that!

I ordered day before Thanksgiving and was hoping to take delivery by end of year. I am hoping for good timing because I need to sell my '23 MYP

Not sure if mentioned already…didn’t SpaceX buy like thousands of CTs??

I know that i bought one of the last available Foundation CT CB…it almost seemed like i was fighting an invisible buyer at the time…took me 3 tries to secure one!

You can still buy the RWD huh?
You can no longer order an RWD, but some Tesla stores still have them in their inventory.

However, the optional $750 soft tonneau cover appears to be unavailable. It's completely disappeared from the Tesla store and there are no indications that it is coming back.

Apparently a lot of RWDs ended up going to SpaceX:
I was just at Starbase and can confirm they were mostly RWD.

Anyone else noticed there are almost no cybertrucks on inventory available anywhere?

New delivery times now estimate 8 to 10 weeks for delivery.

Something is going on: either some changes to the production line or the new battery that has been talked about last year?

I don't think it's the dry cathode battery, Elon was pesimistic about it on the last investor day. Maybe a new battery chemistry?

What do you think is going on?
On one of Joe’s recent videos I saw a lot of Cybertrucks in the outbound lot. It seemed encouraging.

It's not getting discontinued.

They are likely shifting resources away from the CT line to other projects in Austin like the Cybercab.
Chances are that the F-150 Lightning will be discontinued before the Cybertruck. Tesla can eke out a profit even with low-selling vehicles; the Model S and Model X sell in even lower numbers than the Cybertruck, and there is no sign that they are in danger.

Ford, on the other hand, wants high volumes from its models, and the Lightning is not delivering. Ford releases monthly sales figures; they only sold 1,543 Lightnings in October 2025 and just 1,006 in November 2025.

Of course, that hasn't stopped some media outlets from predicting the imminent demise of the Cybertruck. There is nothing new in the linked story, but I'll give them credit for creative imagery:
