I drive through brush which leaves scratches on steel. I suppose ceramic won’t make this any better then?
could make it worse. The ceramic coating is a thin, hard shell that isn't as hard as the steel underneath. So the brush against steel is one thing, but the brush will now scrape on something harder than the brush - which sounds good - but the other side is the brush is now pushing ceramic particles into your steel with pressure applied - that feels like it would be a net negative unless you believe the ceramic coating to be completely impermeable. It might help with shedding soft leaf rubs but twigs and branches will go the other way of adding insult to injury.

Seems to me like PPF, or even plastidip oddly enough, might be better suited to your needs. When it gets too chewed up you peel it off and apply a new section.

8 Year Ceramic Coating by Pan the Organizer. Very DIY friendly. I have used it on my Cybertruck. You can coat everything with it IE: stainless steel, vinyl, ppf, glass, bumpers, fender flares, rims
I ordered this last week. It ships from Canada so wanted to get ahead of any price increase risk. I watched several of the Out of Spec detail videos including the one for this product.

I followed all the steps in one of Colton’s videos and my truck turned out perfect. I’m really happy with the ceramic coating. It’s very easy to keep clean and finger prints aren’t an issue anymore. Here is a good step by step video and a picture of how my turned out.

I wonder how hard it is to re-sand the surface metal after scratching it up for a few years. I’m not talking deep scratches, just thorns and small tree/bush branches and stufff like that. I think it would rip a rap up pretty quickly.

metal ceramic coatings probably won't do much (if anything) for scratches. The coating is there mainly to help with stains by filling the porosity of the metal.

With the ceramic coating, just beware that “stainless steel” is the only color option you’ll ever have again. PPF and wrap (and any stickers) will not stick (very long) after you apply the ceramic coating.
I chose PPF because it fixes the fingerprint issue, lasts for many years (STEK has 10 year warranty), and because I can change the color when I want to. It’s nice to have options, and I don’t care for the stainless steel for the appearance.
Anytime we get a new car we always get the whole thing done in PPF (clear). Nothing protects the paint from rock chips, parking lot damage, and scuffs better than PPF.
Another word of advice, be sure to get PPF on the headlights and turn signals to protect from rock chips.

Does anyone have first hand experience of ceramic effectiveness against corrosion from road salt (magnesium chloride)? I’m going to have to polish the entire truck due to a lot of severe tarnishing from mag chloride and will at that ceramic coat it if the ceramic coat will protect the truck against corrosion in future winter seasons.

I coated mine in December. The hydrophobics are still just as insane as they were the day I coated it. Clean. 8 year coating is definitely the best coating I’ve used so far. Good stuff!

this is what i was looking for. i wanted to wrap it but i dont know what color so i am leaning towards ceramic coating it myself as a DIY project for the weekend. but also wondered how PPF would work after i ceramic coat it. now i dont know again. i want to have the option to wrap it in the future. there is a 3 year one and a 8 year coating. still undecided.
