In this video, I review and install the BestEvMod 4PCS Upgrade Wheel Fairing Delete Kit for the Tesla Cybertruck. After running over a piece of tire in the road and breaking one of my rear fairings, I decided it was time to remove them entirely and go for a cleaner, upgraded look.

They fairings are mud 'flaps'. If you remove them you will have no mud flaps. My guess at least. By the way, I have broken 3 or 4 of these things and it was always normal driving. I wish there was a real mud flap (meaning it actually flaps).

Don’t “mud flaps” go behind the tires 🤔

Hmm, I’m feeling kind of stupid now. So we don’t have mud flaps ‘and’ we have these stupid things that break easily? Do they at least help with efficiency?

They are there for a reason. Based on our tests, not having them can affect wh/mi by 2%–5%, depending on your speed

It's a shame that these "aero flaps" aren't made of something more flexible, like silicone, so that they can survive modest impacts. But I suppose if they are insufficiently rigid, they will indeed "flap" and thus reduce their effectiveness. 🤷‍♂️

I've been wondering about these fairings for some time, like why Tesla didn't call them mud flaps. Now I know. Sadly, early on I ordered Tesla mud flaps from the store but put them in storage thinking that they were just duplicates of what was on the truck. After my recent fairing break I pulled them out and they didn't seem to fit so I put them back in storage. From this discussion I realize that the reason is that they go on the other side of the wheel well. I used to think that I had a brain but no I am wondering. Unfortunately, whether a fairing or a mud flap they are still the same plastic and will break no matter what side of the wheel well they are on, as you say. If the fairings provide a 2%-5% improvement on range I wonder if the mud flaps take it away again.

For those of us that might have broken a front one already ...has anybody found a replacement one yet so we don't have to pay Tesla's price for them? I like efficiency for sure .. so would like to just replace my front one ... if not, I will find a way to "fix" it myself

The front ones are easy to replace, and to be honest they really aren't that expensive to get from Tesla.

The rear ones, on the other hand... I want to choke the idiots who approved the design. Absolute disaster trying to take these things off/put back on in order to go offroading.

Great job, dude! I broke the front driver's side fairing, running over a detached, recapped rubber tire piece. Found the part in Tesla's part catalog for my VIN. $40, $51 with taxes and shipping.

Ok .. I found the online store:
https://epc.tesla.com/en-US/catalogs/b685e77a-0f90-4a81-a1a5-3f3417542754

But it took me some time to find the fairing .. as it is under "Body", even though it isn't highlighted .. just an FYI, go to Body, then Bumper and Front Bumper Fascia, in case you can't find it like I couldn't.

I also need a side mirror cap replacement, which is only $35, which isn't too bad! And will try to get a wiper blade at the same time

This is amazing! I am so happy now I can replace my broken bits :)

hmm .. maybe not a "design flaw", but there is a lot of plastic bits on the truck that are *very* easy to hit, especially with snow banks and everything ... I wish there was a way it could be designed with less plastic. But, I suppose that makes it easy/cheap to replace - at least Tesla provides a way to purchase from them directly at an ok cost! that makes me super happy
