I hate to have to post this, but I wish I had seen an honest review before I used ALSET Auto in Austin, TX.

What started as a simple PPF + tint + ceramic job on my brand-new Cybertruck turned into months of broken promises, rushed work, and damage. The film I initially ordered wasn't even close to the sample that they said matched the photo of a PPF I wanted to match. So, they charged me the full roll price ($1,500), and I had to order a different PPF and pay another $1,500 for the new roll. Ceramic coating was skipped entirely (it was supposed to be included with my PPF package) because they were rushed to finish my PPF, even though they had the truck for 10 days. The windshield tint I scheduled wasn't installed because they forgot to order the material, even though my truck had been sitting there waiting for it. The installers soaked the driver’s door so much that it ruined the door switch – Tesla had to replace the entire door panel (luckily at no cost to me). So, for a week after the PPF installation, I couldn't drive my truck because the doors kept popping open, or it would randomly roll the windows up and down. Cantrail PPF was scheduled four times – in every single appointment, they either didn’t have the material yet or had the wrong material. Not usually a big deal, but I live two hours away, would have to take a day off of work, and show up to find out they didn't have the right material. After all this, I’m still waiting for a refund for the unused roll of PPF that was the wrong color, which is still sitting at their shop. Save yourself a lot of time and money and go to a reputable PPF installer as close to you as possible. Extremely disappointed after spending almost $9,000 and months of my time.

hindsight being 2020, as soon as they were going to charge you for a second roll or PPF, should have just said no, taken the truck and gone somewhere else. This seems like you might have a legal case to get your money back. including what Tesla paid for on the door switch.

Would have ghosted them when they ordered the wrong roll. You pay cash up front?

I initially planned to have them apply a STEK PPF because I have it on another vehicle and love the product, but after going back and forth, they said they couldn't get the STEK color I wanted. So then they pushed me to their house product (Terminax because their tech is used to it, they will warranty it, yada, yada, yada), which I also should have taken as a red flag, because now they have me locked into an obscure PPF brand that they can control and doesn't match anyone else. So I go online and use their swatch system, looking for a super-dark, almost-matte black with a green base to it. I show them a picture of a Cybertruck that supposedly they had wrapped, and they're like, "Yeah, that's the one that matches." So, I pay for the material up front, per their policy, show up on install day, and it's totally army green. Not even close to the color I was thinking of or showed them. I chalked it up to my mistake for not going in to physically review their swatches. They assured me it was one of their best sellers and that they would sell it quickly and refund me once it was sold. It still hasn't sold, almost a year later.

I'm sure it sold, they just didn't tell you it was sold. You can tell them you want to pick the roll up yourself as you have a buyer for it. Try and sell it online, its better than the $0 you have now for it.

Sorry to hear. I used ALSET in Dallas for a Model 3 and they were great. CT is still unwrapped currently.

I got STEK PPF on my Model S at Brightside Auto Salon in Austin. They did a great job and it was done in 2 days. They also did the window tint. This was in back in June 2023 and it's all doing great.

I believe Brightside Auto Salon is the one I used for my GT4. They did a great job and were happy with them. I used Automotive Protection Solutions in Dripping Springs to have my Lotus wrapped in STEK. They did a great job, and I should have taken my Cybertruck there. I purchased my Cybertruck from Tesla in Austin, and ALSET is across the street from them. They said they do a lot of their wraps, so I felt like they were the Cybertruck specialists. I was trying to find the best shop for the job, but I learned that not all PPF shops are the same. The worst part is that I even sent the owner a polite email outlining what happened and had hoped that, as a business owner to business owner, he would do the right thing and at least refund me for the first roll of PPF, given the many issues. He replied once, saying he was trying to get the company to refund him, and then he disappeared and stopped replying to me. It's clearly a top-down issue with them.

When you have ppf, you don't need ceramic coating. This is something that I heard a lot, the film is protecting the whole car, the ceramic coating is damaging the film. I have a detail shop, I know what others company do to get an extra $$$, I polished my and cost me only $7K

Made an inquiry online one time. After I hit submit I get a phone call 90 seconds later, rep said he just got out of a meeting and saw I made an inquiry and wanted to get back to me ASAP. I said I appreciate that!

At the point I knew it was BS. It felt like a call center. Never heard from them after the initial phone call.

TBH, i don't think you need ceramic coating if you do PPF.
