And once Unspervised is launched, that monthly wont stay at $99. Better pony up the $8k for those who are keeping their trucks for the long term and didn't buy FSD yet.
Maybe, maybe not. The take rate on purchasing and subscribing to FSD is still really low. If they raise it too high, they will have less subscribers.

What many think is they offer 2 options; FSDS and UFSD at different prices, but I doubt that happens in the next 8-12 months.

Thats an interesting thought. I could see that Tesla does that with HW3 vehicles but not with HW4 and beyond. HW4 is all UFSD.

HW3 likely won't be able to do UFSD.

UFSD isn't even available yet in a Geofenced RT, but when it is, it will need remote monitoring. Until Tesla believes remote monitoring isn't needed, anywhere, UFSD isn't coming to us.

As Elon has said, we (consumers) will get a version of FSD that doesn't require us looking forward, but we will still be responsible (and in the drivers seat). That's the only thing we can say for sure in the near future. It sounds like that could come sometime in Q2 with 14.3 or potentially later, but the UFSD that can come pick you up, for consumers everywhere, could be years away or they could put it behind a paywall to support remote monitoring.

We don't know because at this point, Tesla doesn't know. To quote Elon, "We really haven't thought about that yet" when speaking about consumer UFSD.

Either the Beast/S/X packages go away at that time, or you can still essentially buy FSD. I suppose you have bought a lifetime sub, but a lifetime sub is no different than buying FSD in a world where they don't let you transfer.

All fair points.

I think people have different interpretations of what UFSD will look like in the future. For some, it means you are still in the front seat but can use your phone and not have to pay attention to what's ahead of you. Others see UFSD as getting into the backseat to take a nap on the way, or have the truck drop you off at work, go make some money for you on the Robotaxi network, and then you summon it back to you when its time to go home.

I think UFSD will rollout with additional features over time, much like how FSD has done so (hopefully at a much faster rate). Just as the HW is always improving and is "Never Finished", I think the SW will follow as it will never be complete; there is always something to fix/add in the future. At some point, it will become UFSD.

My guess is they are phasing out lifetime FSD and are anticipating that Unsupervised, actual FSD will be out in about 8+ years so this is the time to start the clock on getting non subscription FSD off the road.

I think everyone's interpretation of UFSD is the same.
