But they look like an aftermarket add-on, clearly not within the CT design concept, and most importantly, require tools and hassle for removal. The OEM are on/off in seconds without tools, and clearly are made by the folks who designed the truck.

Precisely, remember the context, all these great companies, tried to get ahead of the Tesla crossbars, they knew they were coming but they wanted to monetize the momentum and designed these eiffel towers, when the OEM came, it dawn on them how over engineered and ridiculous they look.

Can always do the Teslaref thing for a 50% discount. Believe it or not that actually works.
sounded pretty scammy to me at first, but I’ll attest that at least in one case that worked and Tesla had no beef with it.
What is teslaref?

I think you have to say that three times like beetlegeuse for them to get on here and post an explanation.

I have never heard of them before. I always figured that referral credits were just a way to line the pockets of influencers but this system, if viable, makes it possible for the rest of us to participate. Is it really not a scam?

I can’t say that with any kind of certainty but I can tell you they charge what they said they would, they deliver the credits as they said they would and that those credits are spendable in a very real way at Tesla towards service or purchases. And also that Tesla doesn’t seem to mind. (This is the part that took some mind wrapping for me).

I agree with you, however, it doesn't seat well with me when they are trying to piggy back riding when someone is talking about the OEM ones. It would be a better approach to show it as an alternative, not a desperate way of pushing their product diminishing the OEM quality as not as "heavy duty " as theirs.
Sorry to have come across as diminishing the OEM product, I think it's great for probably most people, just like the armor package. BUT, our products are 100% heavy duty when compared to the OEM versions.

OEM:
  • Pros: easy to take off and on
  • Cons: Price and not many/any accessories to make them more functional IMHO

CTco HD Bars:
  • Pros: Support more weight, mount a RTT, mount a spare tire, molle panels, etc
  • Cons: takes 4 nuts to remove vs key

Again, didn't mean to hijack an OEM thread, just wanted to showcase ours and let a sale be announced. It's why we pay to sponsor and support this forum, to be involved in the community!

How was your experience with them? I have tried after seeing this. It has been two months since they charged me and orders were delivered I have yet not received credit from Tesla and teslaref is not responding to my emails. Am I too impatient?

Probably. It worked for me. We purchased a new set of tires for our model x with an alignment for half of what it would have cost us otherwise.

I don’t know if that’s everyone’s experience but it was mine. I know of one other person who has done it and his experience was successful too.

Mine took a long time. You get them after the person takes delivery I think.

I’ve gotten 6 referrals credits after delivery as well.

🤷‍♂️
Again, not endorsing anything about this. Just sharing what my personal experience was.

interesting venture for me, I purchased the applique not understanding what it was, but highly recommended and a very good deal as it includes installation by the TSC

the applique is the replacement of the two side strips in front adding the crossbar front mounts
the AWD only comes with the rear mounts and the applique adds the front mounts

only owning two bars at this time, doubt ill purchase two more bars, i have bar mount options of front, rear or split wide
Does your applique (or anyone watching this thread) feel "soft" around the mounting doors? I thought it would feel solid but there's a decent amount of flex when opening the mounting doors. Service center tech said that's normal.

Mine feels that way too. I did add some xpel armor from Abstract Ocean but it’s never really been an issue.
