If you put the truck in drive, don't the directional lights come on white until you put on the directionals and then they alternate between white and amber? I think it's those lights that this "recall" effected.
Drive is full headlights. The recall is for front parking lights and those beams aren't active in parking mode. (Unless they meant non-parking marker lights)

Assuming this is stemming from the latest test results where the lights scored poorly for the glare to oncoming traffic
From the recall filing:
  • On October 1, 2025, during an internal review, Tesla detected that the vehicle controller software may have been inadvertently commanding the parking lamp photometric intensity to be greater than design specifications.
  • On October 3, 2025, Tesla’s homologation team was notified of the potential noncompliance.
  • On October 3 and 6, 2025, Tesla and the lamp supplier conducted a series of photometrical tests on the parking lamp to confirm the parking lamp function output. The test measured a parking lamp function output value that exceeded the maximum output allowed by FMVSS 108.
  • On October 7, 2025, having completed the investigation and identified the scope of affected vehicles, Tesla made a determination to voluntarily recall the affected vehicles.
  • As of October 13, 2025, Tesla has identified 0 warranty claims and 0 field reports related to this non compliance. Tesla is not aware of any collisions, injuries, or fatalities related to the condition.

Back to my beef from December...there absolutely needs to be a way to shut off the daytime running light frunk bar when the headlights are on. It illuminates falling snow and fog and is frankly dangerous at night.

But they're worried about excessive glare as seen by approaching drivers... 🤦‍♂️. I'd like to be able to drive through heavy snow at night and not fear for my life, FFS.

100% agree. Having experienced this, its absolutely a huge safety concern.

Tesla does not disclose production or sales numbers for Cybertrucks specifically. So the most interesting thing about the recall is that it reveals the total number of Cybertrucks that have been produced since the official introduction in late 2023:

That 63,619 number would include CTs that have been produced but not yet sold, like those in inventory at Tesla stores or in transit.
For comparison with ICE trucks:

- in 2024, CT sales were roughly comparable to the Honda Ridgeline.

- in 2025 (so far) CT sales are lower, below the Ridgeline but roughly comparable to the Hyundai Santa Cruz.

Which reminds me... I have to make sure my roll of duct tape is back in the frunk, for blackout purposes.

Simple software tweak... I don't know why it hasn't happened yet.

total witch hunt.
How can it be a witch hunt when Tesla was the one doing it?
Tesla found an issue
Tesla verified the issue
Tesla fixed the issue
Tesla notified NHTSA as required for a non-compliance

All NHTSA did was acknowledge Tesla's report and start tracking it.

You don’t drive with the parking lights on…
Yes you do. Driving lights are parking + lower beam/ high beam
From FMVSS 108 "Parking lamps are lamps on both the left and right of the vehicle which show to the front and are intended to mark the vehicle when parked or serve as a reserve front position indicating system in the event of headlamp failure."

Headlights are toooo dim. Horrible in rain. And at night are really bad in some cities with neon street lights. All my trips are at night. I added light bar under bumper and ond on roof for nighttime driving

DRL is not a parking light…

the difference between front and rear are amber and red, which is typically used to designate front and rear..

if they are saying the blinkers or amber parking lights are too bright, well… please re-consider your source.

DRL are not required in the US and can use other lights (like low beams often were)
It can be both DRL and parking light. If it isn't the parking light, what forward facing light is?
