Hi All,

Last year on Dec. 14, 2023, I went to the Tesla Distribution Center to pick up my Cybertruck. I ran into a problem that the GM would not take my Certified Check / Cashier’s Check. Even though that form of payment was in the Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement that Tesla wrote.

Their changing their rules just before a sale seam very hard to take. I know that even these types of payments might still have some risk. But what product do you know of if they do not get paid, they can lock down the product remotely or even better lock the doors when you are in it and drive you to the Police Station like Tesla could.

After the GM PJ Verica refused my purchase, we went back and forth on what we would do with this contract. Since it was Tesla that refused to sell me the CyberTracker constructive, Terminating the Contract on the delivery date by not going through with the deal. I came to the opinion that I would just like the money I already gave them back and it was not worth my time since I reserved this CyberTracker in 2019. I had spent enough time waiting for it.

The outcome of this is after many, many months of waiting for the return of my money I finally received it at the end of July 2025. At less the waiting to get my money was less than the time I waited to get a chance to buy one of these CyberTracker. LOL

This was my problem in buying their product so be aware.

I am still a Tesla fan, but they need a Customer Service badly Fast.

Not really. It’s stupidly easy to buy a Tesla. Some people, not naming names, choose to make life difficult for themselves.

It sounds like you didn't buy their product after all!

Having been driving my Dual Motor Cybertruck around for the last 16 months I must say you really missed out.

Sorry they wouldn't take your check, but the loss was mostly yours (and everyone in line jumped forward one spot). So, thank you for taking one for the team!

First, Tesla doesn't sell a "cyber tracker", second I don't believe this post genuine and the whole truth. I have purchased both of my vehicles with certified bank checks and Tesla didn't even blink an eyelash at it.

FUD detector tells me this is total bullcrap.

edit: ah! I found the context on this one: https://www.cybertruckownersclub.co...-purchase-of-a-cybertruck.34214/post-30473463

You wrote the wrong amount on the check, and wanted them to refund you the difference. An obvious and very well known vector for check fraud. Every single one of the staff members at Tesla followed critical protocol in not allowing this type of transaction to go through.

FUD confirmed; cased closed.

I think spell checker changed Cybertruck to Cybertracker. Go easy mate.
Tesla did in fact cease using bank checks for purchases over a certain amount (I think $50k)
Not everything is a conspiracy.

Which would definitely leave some people high and dry if that was all they were prepared to do.

Correct. Tesla like every other company Tesla is trying to stay ahead of scammers and fraudsters during purchase transactions.

No they didn't. If you take them a certified check made in the exact amount specified in the purchase contract, you will walk out with your Cybertruck.

Im confused by this post, if they didnt take your check, then why did you have to wait for your money back? Are you saying Tesla took the check, cashed it, and refused to give you a vehicle in return?

Banks can be weird about releasing the funds in a cashier's check back to your account.

Oh yes, glad to see you're still here on the forum after the "I wrote a check for larger amount and wanted refund issue..."

Since your location is Aurora, Colorado, as is mine, here's my take on "they need a customer service...":

* 8/6 I took my month-old Model Y to the Aurora service center for a warranty issue. Easy to make appointment via app, check-in via app, etc. A tech came out and we did a quick drive in the parking lot. This was to remedy my concern of "pinging/clicking" wheel covers-- fairly minor issue.

* tech spoke with service advisor, who quickly ordered new wheel covers--a full set of 4, when I only need 1 or 2.

* service advisor scheduled my Model Y for a delivery day paint issue. Offered a loaner. I declined, as I have a Cybertruck. Service advisor really wanted me to take a Model S as a loaner. I declined again...

Fantastic service, prompt, professional, and lots of empathy from both the tech (we talked about installing Homelink on Juniper Model Y) and service advisor.

My advice to you: purchase and take delivery of a Cybertruck before 9/30/2025 to take advantage of the $7,500 federal tax credit. Lease/buyout if your income is >$150k single/>$225k head of household / >$300k joint filer.

Well I do not think I took one for the Team. I was in line at 345000+ to get one and when the price jumped by $30K a lot of people fell out of line. I really did not expect my 3 motors unit until sometime in 2026 or later.

So, you can thank all the other people that jumped ship for you getting you truck earlier Too.

If you have had, you truck for 16 months then you bought the Foundation series for $30K more just to jump the line since the regular series came out in Nov. 2025. The math is not right for you to say you have had your truck for 16 months.
