My coworker always had a 4wd but never took them out in bad weather. He said my 4wd does not prevent idiots on the road hitting me. I wouldn't mind front wheel drive or all wheel drive. I have a sport car and a truck that are rear wheel drive and have had a number of uncomfortable situations with both. They always did a little better with weight in the back so I am sure CT1 will do better than average rear wheel drive truck.Yes, a 1980 Honda Accord is a front-wheel drive. As was the '87 Civic, as was the Dodge Caravan and Ford Escort.
We did eventually get a 4wd truck, the last two trucks dad had, but for the most part we just put a load in the back when we needed his earlier trucks.
Saying it's required is misleading. Only a tiny minority of the northwest experiences winter hazard weather for more than a handful of days a year, and some years not at all.
Traction devices are more important than awd in any case.

I know on ice, it should not make a whole lot of difference but we made it home on a one hour trip in my wife's all wheel drive Subaru when we were the only one on a 4 lane highway and everyone else was in the ditch. I also made it through some rough winter weather with my front wheel drive Oldsmobile.
Now I just try to stay home in bad weather when I can.
