Note like the sloppy job shown in the video, not complicated, better seal at the applique to glass edge
stronger seal at tailgate end
using two disjoint pieces of rubber not sticking to the frame and dangling !!!

Hah, that's exactly what I used, but on the underside. I added the weather strip, to cut most of the water ingress, but I have the wire for my camera up there that needed to be held up and out of the way of the tonneau. So a nice long piece of flex tape not a single drop of water makes it into my bed now.Available in black.

interesting!I need to do the YouTube fix still but every time I see these posts I remember this link and wonder what became of it. It looked promising.

I used window screen retainer spline to fill the space between the flap and the glass. Took about 30 minutes to work the rubber spline in the space. I do not recommend using a metal tool to work the rubber in the space as I would be concerned about breaking the glass. I just used a plastic tool to work the spline into place and it stopped the water from coming into the vault.

can we see the equivalent backer photo to this? Also share the size of the backerI think this stuff is too stiff and too thin to fill the gap. water might still work its way around it. I used 3/8 inch backer rod which is like 2.5x bigger than the spline and compressible.
basically that spline is raw spaghetti and backer rod is cooked udon.

That may well be an easier DIY solution for some than removing the applique and installing new weatherstripping etc.I think this stuff is too stiff and too thin to fill the gap. water might still work its way around it. since 8/2025 no water ingress. in normal mid-atlantic weather. and you actually dont have to remove the aerocover - probably best if you dont - just push (either the spline or backer rod) into the gap from the top and support the gap from the bottom as you put it in.That may well be an easier DIY solution for some than removing the applique and installing new weatherstripping etc.
Please report back once you have had some water abuse testing!
Not sure what you mean by "backer photo". The only item I installed in the space between the glass and flap was the screen spline. The spline package states .155 Dia.can we see the equivalent backer photo to this? Also share the size of the backer

So you think that water can sit in there and freeze and crack the glass? That’s the only thing stopping me from this solution.yep its here: https://www.cybertruckownersclub.co...your-bed-vault-how-to-diy.43427/post-30643641
im sure you can get it in black. in just had this laying around. its been in since the post and no water issues for me anymore. (mine werent that bad to begin with!)
just to confuse, four solutionsSo you think that water can sit in there and freeze and crack the glass? That’s the only thing stopping me from this solution.
I think that the backer is impervious enough that water just runs over it and doesnt soak in. ive survived this winter in pennsylvania with no crack so far at least. So you think that water can sit in there and freeze and crack the glass? That’s the only thing stopping me from this solution.
