Definitely didn’t miss this. Great movie. Big fan of Chappie also but that’s maybe a little influenced by my having grown up in Johannesburg.

The laws will also hinder Cybercab in their current form. Currently, automakers are allowed to deploy a maximum of 2,500 vehicles without traditional controls (steering wheel and pedals) per year.

Elon was saying they will be able to make a Cybercab ever 10 seconds...they'll hit 2,500 quickly.

Not so. Regulations were preemptively updated in 2022 to address that issue:

State laws can't override federal when it comes to required equipment, if explicitly regulated.
Front license plates, for example, are not a federal requirement. However, rear license plates lights are, and states have laws requiring them to be operational. Same with driver side mirror.

I would definitely bought it had i seen it. I drove both ways to the shareholders meeting. Nearly 2000 miles. I am an attorney, business owner and board member for a few boards. I am busy. People call me all the time and I try to multitask as much as possible. I swear Elon was looking at me when he said we will be able to text and drive in a month or two.

People call me all the time and I try to multitask as much as possible. I swear Elon was looking at me when he said we will be able to text and drive in a month or two.

Don’t know why this is so shocking to people as discussed in other threads, you can text when you’re riding in a Waymo. What difference does it make where in the car you are when you do that?
I personally bought a bunch of TSLA the week Waymo opened its service here in Phoenix and I took a ride in one. Why? Because I took that as evidence the bulk of the regulatory battle had been won. So far, very glad I did that.

Because the state laws on texting only apply to the driver's position. Amd states with autonomous exceptions required Level 3 or higher. FSD has been Level 2(+).

I need to watch Chappie. In the AZ dry heat, I've made a good version of biltong (via youtube instruction), but since I've never had real SA biltong, I can only hope it's on par. Should have done some more in this past stupid hot summer we just got over.
