Recall: Drive Inverter Failures on 2024 Cybertrucks Produced 11/6/23 – 7/30/24 (Affects 2,431 vehicles)

November 5, 2024	24V832	Description: Tesla has issued a voluntary recall on certain Model Year (MY) 2024 Cybertruck vehicles produced within the build dates November 6, 2023 – July 30, 2024, that are or were equipped with metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFET) in the drive inverter. On affected vehicles a fault in the drive inverter may cause it to stop producing torque.
Safety Risk: If the inverter stops producing torque, the driver loses the ability to apply torque to the vehicle using the accelerator pedal resulting in a loss of propulsion, which may increase the risk of a collision. No warning occurs prior to the loss of propulsion. However, when the driver loses the ability to apply torque, they will immediately receive a visual alert on the user interface, with an instruction to safely pull over the vehicle to the side of the road and contact Tesla Roadside for assistance.
Remedy: At no charge to the customer, Tesla will replace the recalled drive inverter with a drive inverter equipped with a properly functioning MOSFET component.

I believe the MOSFET’s are failing. I think it’s the brick like part on the circuit board.

Says trucks manufactured between Nov 6 2023 and July 30 2024. NHTSA report attached. Says 2431 trucks and potentially 1% of those vehicles have the defect.

Some insight but likely need to put your VIN in the Tesla recall look-up site (URL) or EPC recall look (URL).

A Cybertruck customer reportedly complained to Tesla after their vehicle experienced the issue back in July. Tesla then investigated the issue for three months.

A little over 2,400 2024 Cybertrucks made between Nov. 6, 2023 and July 30 may be affected by this issue, according to the NHTSA Recall Safety Report, meaning only a small minority of the over 11,600 Cybertrucks sold so far are impacted.

The metal-oxide-semiconductor-field-effect transistors (MOSFET) in the drive inverter are part of the problem, so if your Cybertruck has Inverter Part number family 1802305 containing MOSFET part number 1530063-2A-B, you're among the recall. Drivers won't be able to easily determine this, but Tesla's Customer Service may be able to help as they're now aware of this recall.

Says Tesla has identified 5 incidences that may be related to this recall and fortunately no collisions.

I wonder if all the affected VINs haven't been loaded into the system for this recall yet? I took delivery of my Truck May 10th, so I would have expected it to fall within this time frame, however the Tesla VIN search doesn't list my truck as affected.

Yep, just checked as well and nothing. took delivery May 17th with vin 86xx
Would have thought I would be included.
