Every new EV is "a flop" nowadays. 1450 electric vs 9700 petrol/diesel? If the electric version is a flop, then it's a flop version of a flop... but it's a luxury car, of course the numbers are going to be low. I feel like those EV numbers are pretty good all things considered.

Personally, I am hella delighted they made it and I think sales will improve. We need more EV options.

"According to the German outlet, Mercedes-Benz delivered 1450 examples of the electric G-Wagon to customers globally between January and April 2025. By contrast, it delivered almost 9700 petrol and diesel versions."

so in it's first ever quarter of deliveries the EV version has ~13% of total G wagen sales? Uh, that's not a flop, it's a revolution in the making.

If the Gwagon is a flop, the CT is. It starts at 150k and can get into 200s. To sell 10k in 2025 is pretty insane.

The buying public has spoken. It proves that you can’t mess with the classic G Wagon. It’s been around since 1979 and basically looks the same after 45 years in production.

I predict the depreciation on the 580e will be way worse than the petrol version. Waiting 36 months for an off-lease G Wagon would be a smart financial move for those who are interested in the EV version.

Thanks to poor 580e sales MB leadership is reconsidering making the upcoming ā€œBaby Gā€ all electric. They may switch to a petrol version and completely ditch the EV version while it’s under development.

This is literally the first thing I thought. I LOVE the G wagon, but I'll never buy an ICE again

EV adoption in the US is just 9% and hypocrite politicians will soon eliminate EV tax credit but China is so determined b/c they see the auto business will shift to EVs in few years. Then again the govt have to rescue the legacy autos with tax payers money. :devilish:

I bought my G new a few years back as likely my last gas powered car (other than fun weekend ones like a vintage cobra roadster I’ve been eyeing). If the cybertruck didn’t exist I’d probably buy it vs other electric SUV’s/trucks out currently. The V8 soundtrack is one of my favorite parts but the overall fit and look is hard to beat. Those will remain the case even without the gas engine.

What were the charging specs? Don’t quote me on this but I recall Kyle from out of spec maybe downing range or charging? I’d have to go look. I know a lot of these are mall crawlers, but you’re still supposed to feel like you can take the thing into the middle of the Sahara without worrying to much about when to plug in.

Per Grok, pretty bad for the price point and implied marketing use if you ask me:

Range:

• WLTP Range: Up to 473 km (approximately 294 miles)

• EPA Range: Not explicitly stated in the provided sources, but real-world testing suggests around 160 miles in highway conditions, which is about 67% of its EPA-estimated range of approximately 239 miles.

Charging Stats:

• Battery Capacity: 116 kWh (usable)

• Charging Types:

• AC Charging: Equipped with an 11 kW on-board AC charger.

• DC Fast Charging: Supports up to 200 kW, allowing a charge from 10% to 80% State of Charge (SoC) in approximately 32 minutes.
