Finnish MP Eero Heinäluoma posted on FB about this:

This will likely be replicated throughout the EU. I don't think that's the main barrier to having Cybertrucks legal here (as you could technically just set the legal load limit to be lower than the US, which would be kind of OK at least with the AWD), however it does slightly make things easier. The main issue would still be pedestrian safety, particularly, in my view, from the two upright pieces of stainless at the front (which are, frankly speaking, like blades!).

You mean at each side of the frunk? It will be interesting if Cybertruck ever gets certified in EU. From the looks of it will be a hard sell.

Yeah, I mean the two upright pieces of steel on the left and right of the frunk cover. I almost cut my finger on those when just feeling around! Not a great design for pedestrian safety and unlikely to ever be accepted as-is here within the current regulatory framework.

I don’t think it really matters what the shape of a multi-ton object hitting you at 40mph is.
Yup. Ever see what shredded aluminum looks like after an accident? Kind of reminds me of a torn aluminum can. Don’t think I’d wanna be in front of that either

Exactly! That's why I only drink beer while walking on the shoulder of the road when there is almost no traffic (and never after 11 pm on a weekend!).

Seeing how you are a trauma surgeon, I think I'll afford that view more significance than the people worried about getting cut open by the "sharp edges".

When I'm on a motorcycle, I never run stop signs. You know why? Because on the other side of the intersection there is usually another stop sign with sharp edges. If I don't see a car coming from the right as I run the intersection, he could hit me and eject me right into that other stop sign. It could slice me in half!

Most people don't consider the danger of stop signs and how sharp they are! 🤪

Do you also almost cut your finger open on the backside of a butter knife? Because if the Cybertruck has anything sharper than that, you should probably take a piece of emery cloth to it!

of what it might take to make the CT EU compatible. They put edging on the metal. And, they put a foam pad on the frunk. Yes, yes, it's fugly, it's a prototype, remember. Where there's a will, there's a way.

Interesting. Hadn’t heard of this project. Prices are, of course, very high, as expected for something done this way. Like 160K euros for a used AWD. But I’m sure there will be a handful of moneyed buyers.

Is Finland some kind of make or break market for European acceptance? Someone explain why we care about this if we’re not Finnish?

This is just my prototype I've been working on. It's not complete yet, but I think it'll work and pass their regulations. Let me know if you guys think it's ready for market or needs improvements.

There seems to be some variation on how panels were prepped, because there are a few places on my truck that have drawn blood. Some burred edges that will catch the skin or in a out of the way places razor sharp edges near seams. I haven't bothered with fixing it, I'm just cautious when I'm drying it after a wash. It's not Edward Scissorhand's truck though, I cut myself worse on a plastic storage bin from Lowe's yesterday.
