I’m a very early reservation holder who has been dying to buy a Cybertruck since the 2019 announcement.

I absolutely don’t “need” a Cybertruck, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting one.

I was able to get a foundation series beast reserved with free supercharging, $12k off, and now the 0% financing offer.
Right now I’m finishing up a 48 hour test drive and am reminded of how much I enjoyed driving one the first time.

However, now that my Sunday delivery date draws nearer I’m getting cold feet about spending so much money on a definite luxury.

i can “afford it” but keep thinking of what else I could do with the 108k.

I also keep coming back to this being the end of the Foundation series. It seems unlikely there will ever be another 0% + free supercharging offer anytime soon as I’ve seen the local stock vanish. In hindsight I maybe should have saved $20k and picked up an AWD Foundation but they’re long since gone in my local area.

I’m really mostly venting a bit, but I welcome any advice either way on what to do! Should I just go ahead with it and sell it if it becomes a guilty burden?

You are getting one hell of a deal. I would drive that truck all over with that supercharging till the batteries could take no more. Plan more trips and put on the miles - make your money worth it - that way you won’t have to “vent”. ?

Do it! You will not regret the Beast. Tech inspired high performance with the flexibility of a comfortable ride all in one. I don’t think it will become a guilty burden -that’s a great pricing package with the side options thrown in.

I made a similar post when I got my email invite for a foundation series. Same points you are making, I could afford it, but it’s more money than I’ve ever spent on a car, extremely hard want etc…

I ultimately decided to wait for a non-fs AWD. Even though I missed out on some of the incentives that are available today, I really feel it was the best choice.

a few questions for you;
1) Why Beast and not AWD?
2) Would you be using Supercharging that much? Consider the cost of supercharging vs what you’d be spending at home.

I used free supercharging for the first 3 months, setting aside the obvious benefit, I found it inconvenient to charge for 45 minutes every few days vs plugging in at home.

Thanks for the reply.
1) A couple reasons really. First, there were no more FS AWD available, second I think if I got the AWD I’d always wonder “what if” and wish I’d gotten the one I “really want.”
2) I would truthfully charge at home more. We’ve got cheap electricity and already have a Model Y and wall connector. However, I consider the benefit to be essentially “free road trips” which is very compelling. I’d like to take the family to see lots of neat places and I travel for work.

I think you’re giving sensible advice, and appreciate the input.

We've had our FS Beast for just over a year. Still love it. Best road tripping vehicle we've owned. Been off roading and to the dunes.

Only you know your situation, but don't not do it for the sake of appearances or what is "reasonable".

I traded in a 2002 pickup with >200k miles and broken AC to get the Beast. I can drive a lower priced vehicle, but that doesn't mean I have to (finances willing, of course).

Similar situation of being a consummate saver, spending money on luxuries is hard for me, especially new vehicles. I traded in a Model S Plaid which I had bought used with 28k miles and run up to 36k before the CT launched and my number was called to configure. Normally, I would have kept that Plaid another 5-10 years but there is something very different about Cybertruck. While I always prefer to buy 3-5 year old used cars, I’m hitting the point of the life curve where I realize my years (and experiences) are dauntingly limited.

I picked up a FS AWD a year ago, the “sensible” $100+k vehicle purchase and it’s been a heck of a year. It is my daily driver having never owned a pickup truck and I think of it more as a five seat SUV, really wish Tesla would have pulled the R1S/R1T and built a proper SUV on this chassis but that’s not an option. If you can swing it, with the heavy discount and lifetime supercharging (and FSD and lifetime connectivity) my vote is buy it, run it, live it and enjoy it.

Time passes, saving every last dollar just leaves a bigger bank balance for someone else to enjoy. it’s okay.

Relax and go for it,,,,,,, here is my experience for a year now....
For us CT owners up here in upstate New York, where there are few CTs driving around, I have to schedule at least an extra half an hour for any local trips around here to answer all of the questions I get about "what the heaven are you driving". So I decided to list them on a card that I give out if I'm in a hurry, here it is:
Cybertruck 30 minute dissertation short form;
My 7th and last truck (previous daily drivers, all 4x4 Toyotas starting with the 1979 SR5, last Tundra, a 2014 had 220,000 miles on it), love this beast, is the future, all electric, lightning quick (0-60 2.6 sec), steer by wire progressive steering (full left to right lock 340°), 4 wheel steering (really tight turns), air suspension (17" high setting clearance), regenerative breaking (rarely use breaks), 48 volt low voltage (really small wiring harnesses), Etherloop communication, heavy duty stainless steel body, almost NO maintenance (Tires, wiper blades & fluid is about it), over the air updates, and most importantly gas pickup $60 to drive 250 miles, Cybertruck $15-$19 electricity (400 wH/mile x 250 miles at $.15-$.19/kWh) to drive 250 miles, full slow charge at home 5 hours, full fast charge at supercharger 45 minutes, and Tesla is 10-15 years ahead of everyone else.

Exactly. If you can afford it never get the lower version of any vehicle. Get the beast. You won’t be sorry every time you mash the go pedal!

My brothers and I loved cars. We’d talk about drives we’d want to take with our dream rides. Both of them died suddenly of heart attacks in the last two years in their early 50s.

Get the car. Pick your favourite road and playlist. You may not get another chance.

I ordered my Second 2024 FS CyberBeast Yesterday!
0% Financing and Free Supercharging, free power share, free FSD!
the hell with buying solar! Free Powershare and Free lifetime supercharging! I'm going to power my homes and drive all over the planet for free! and my high interest Money market pays the month payment!
I don't care about the 7500-tax credit, I wrote off my first 2024 FS Cyberbeast $129,000 last year as a business expense, lowered my adjusted gross income! get an LLC, get a good accountant! its worth it!
I'll do the same with this one!
No more Diesel, No More Gas, no more Oil Changes on my 2 Ford excursions, no more Maintenace! Just washer fluid!
I live in the Tax you to death state of Connecticut, however my GF has a Georgia Driver's license, both are in her name registered and insured, and she is my employee of my company,
NO MOTOR VECHICLE TAX in Georgia! This is a no brainer! i wanted an FS AWD, I tried like crazy on Friday to apply my credits, I could not get it done Friday night,
on sat morning, all of the 2024 FS AWD disappeared,3500 of them! I took another Cyberbeast! there is only ONE Foundation Series Cyberbeast, only 7060 were ever produced!

and you keyboard warriors with corrections and proper grammar, please don't read this,
us working men have better things to do than to correct people's punctuation.
we actually get our hands dirty, and when you don't want to get your hands dirty, you call us, the tradesmen, and we charge you double!

do it! you will never regret it!

It’s a heck of a deal but I understand your 2nd thoughts. When I bought my truck there was an off grid cabin on 40 acres for roughly the same price. The worst thing about buying the truck is you are going to get shit on and harassed by people, happens every time I drive mine.

Great input, and thanks. My Model Y was previously my most expensive car at like 62k, so this is definitely a new high.

I kind of agree on the SUV, but I also want to do some "truck things" around the house with a bed. We recently moved and having a truck would have been great, albeit a luxury!
