AI4.5 Hardware being delivered. News on Cybertrucks with them?

This tells me that HW5 isn’t coming until 2027. Tesla would not have spent the R&D funds on HW4.5 if HW5 was around the corner. I predict HW5 is roughly 12-18 months away before being installed in production vehicles.

It’s apparent that new FSD software is being developed at a fast pace and that computer hardware is struggling to keep up with computational demands.

Sounds like they definitely needed an inbetween. HW4.5 is basically just an extra SOC so adding 50% more compute.

Not necessarily. Over the life of a chip the chip may not change its instruction set but may change in die size or other components. I don't think it's that rare and doesn't necessarily signal any change in the overall pipeline. The chip getting smaller can mean less power draw or something else with no impact on capabilities.

No. It's real. It has 3 SOCs instead of 2.

It's currently being delivered on new Model Ys. Nothing else, yet.

Edit: Not only are there maybe 10 pictures of customer cars on X with it, it's in the parts catalog. Also, greentheonly said new cameras appear to be coming to HW4.5.

There were already reports that hw4 was at capacity. This probably is to run larger models with HW5 over a year out.
